Since Freeform announced that they officially canceled Shadowhunters, fans have been doing everything possible to fight the decision. They’ve protested online, vented their love for the show and even raised over $11,000 to prevent it from saying its final goodbye. It goes without saying, but these stans are seriously dedicated.
But was it it about Shadowhunters that fans love so much? Why are they so desperate to see it picked up again by another network, or brought back by Freeform? The reasons are plenty, ranging from the its diversity to portrayal of women. We went ahead and asked those fans what their top reasons are for wanting to #SaveShadowhunters and got the facts, straight from their mouths.
Shadowhunters Features Powerful Women
Fans love how the show features strong, powerful women who stand side by side and support each other. They are empowered by these women, which is such a relevant topic nowadays, and they don't want to see their new role models taken off screen.
The Show Saves Lives
Many fan have taken to Twitter to write about how Shadowhunters has seriously impacted them, even saving their lives. It's no surprise that the fandom is so insistent on the show being renewed when you consider how many people have been touched by its content, plot lines and characters.
Because The Storylines Aren’t Finished.
Often times when a show is canceled or isn't renewed, television executives will find a way to wrap up the storylines. While execs promised to wrap things up with a 2-part Shadowhunters finale, fans can't help but worry that it won't be enough.
There's just SO many things that need to be addressed in the upcoming episodes, so fans want another season (at minimum) to wrap up the plots.

Shadowhunters tackles real-life issues with its main characters every single week and fans absolutely LOVE that there's always something they can relate to.
It Helped With Their Insecurities
Before finding Shadowhunters, some fans were struggling a lot with their mental health. Since joining the fandom, they have gotten the strength to do things like leave the house and socialize, which is absolutely incredible.
The Show Helps People Come Out
Alec Lightwood's coming-out scene is one of the most incredible things we've ever seen, and it actually encouraged some fans to also come out to their families and friends.

Bi visibility is something that Hollywood seriously needs to work on. Being bisexual isn't a phase, or a questioning period — it's valid and a real sexuality. Magnus Bane is bisexual on Shadowhunters and is very upfront about it — they never try to sweep his past relationships under the rug because he's currently dating a guy, and that's really great.
Shadowhunters is a Safe Place
It may sound a little strange, but watching Shadowhunters for an hour each week gave many people the escape from reality they desperately needed. No matter what was happening in their lives, fans knew that viewing time was 100% safe.
It Helps Promote Equality
With a show that's so heavily based on representation, it's hard to imagine anyone watching would not have an open mind. But, believe it or not, it happened!
Some people credit Shadowhunters, however, for giving their peers the eye-opening experience needed to expand their views and stop being so judgmental.
