so I haven’t actually seen the backrooms movie and in theory i certainly understand wanting to use solely practical effects and hiring a very specific actor with extremely unique physical traits in order to facilitate that. but I still can’t seem to escape the conclusion that they did in fact do blackface. idk am I missing something here? I guess I just struggle to see a use case that makes blackface okay even if you like… really want to make a cool movie. am i crazy?
#laloblogging#idk I’m struggling to imagine a plot-relevant explanation that would make me go OH well then i guess it’s fine they put a white person in#THAT makeup#like idk boss i guess maybe if making a white guy resemble your Black lead was the only way to achieve this with practical effects#then MAN that might just be an instance in which you do have to take the L and do CGI. I’m so sorry
