Hey. So, because life moves on and people continuously change every single second of their lives, I have made the temporary decision to change what I wanna write about.

It's not that I want to completely stop writing about jujutsu kaisen and spiderman across the spider verse. I just...there's other things I like as well and want to pour my love into.

If u ever miss me writing about these guys, remember I have so fucking many links in my pinned post for everything I've written about them. I just reached my 100th jjk post not too long ago, so I know you're well fed. I want to write more about aot because it deserves love and I also hope that SOMEWHERE......there are still Abby Anderson lovers that are starving....and need food for me to give them. Becuase I will cook. I'm a writing Veteran with a capital V and I will serve as needed bro.

I just want to tell something to most everyone who felt the need to explain how Liam for ME:A is going to be okay, because you believe.

Straights and/or Whites/Non-Blacks (and/or Men for Sera) saying that Sera and Jacob were written perfect have literally no effect on how I feel about how badly they were written.

Like I’m sorry if it sounds mean, but it is a fucking reality that SHOCK, SURPRISE the straight, white, and/or men liked the marginalized characters a Straight White Man wrote.

Marginalized people are oversensitive to these things, not because we’re petty. But again SHOCK, SURPRISE we are raised in a world where we are constantly pelted with backhanded comments, micro-aggression, and unknowing/unconscious “polite” bigots.

Racism, Homophobia/Lesbophobia, and Misogyny can be subtle, it can be subtext, and it can still fuck you up. It can still be internalized, it can still keep all those bigoted mindsets alive. It can confirm stereotypes, it can validate a bigot without meaning to, it can instill unconscious bias (because humans are fucking weak mentally).

So yeah, good on you for having faith. But I don’t have to have shit. I’m CONCERNED, as a Black Person. I AM CONCERNED.

As someone who has followed Bioware for a while loyally and seen Liam’s writer fail to write sympathetic marginalized character, without some “quirk” and insult on their character. I AM CONCERNED.

As someone who has seen Branka’s and Hespith’s “tragic lesbian love story” written by HIM. As someone who has seen Marjolaine’s and Leliana’s “tragic lesbian love story” written by HIM. As someone who has seen Jacob “Black Stereotype” Taylor written by HIM. Aveline “That Slattern” Vallen written by HIM, and Sera “Crazy, Internalized Racist Lesbian” written by HIM. I AM CONCERNED.

You telling me it’ll be okay, isn’t going to make me suddenly believe a man who still being lauded for his work despite the above, is going to drastically change his writing style after 16 consecutive years of poor creative decisions.

So in regards to Lukas Kristjanson, you listed him writing abusive WLW relationships as a reason why you dislike him, and that's fine, I accept that, but is that inherently bad? Say if a fic writer writes abusive Isabela/fem!Hawke fanfiction, does that make them a bad person? Or is it that you think he romanticizes it/it's how he assumes all WLW relationships are?

It is bad yes. 

Because there is a difference between writing it knowingly for a story and writing over and over again because that’s all you believe they are.

Patrick Weekes wrote an abusive WLW plot into his Masked Empire book, he didn’t romanticize it and he has shown to know queer relationships aren’t all like that. And what more it added dynamic to his story, it didn’t control the character, but it also wasn’t there to just be there.

Lukas Kristjanson has written 3 THREE abusive WLW relationships, Hespith and Branka didn’t even need it. Yet for some reason he decided to do that. Marjolaine/Leliana could have arguably been okay for the plot and yet he continued to use this trope with Sera.

Meanwhile Carver and Kaiden get the a okay, happy endings (for the most part).

He also did this to a black character, yet his White Men have relatively happy story lines and growth. As much as the story would allow.

Fool me once, shame on me. Fool me twice, shame on you. Fool me a third time, and you are a pretty bad person who don’t know how women, wlw, and PoCs work.

Not to mention, Kristjanson gets paid to do this. He is getting paid to write poor representation that aren’t just going to be seen by your average 10 kudos and 500 views, where people understand that fanfic is just that. He is getting paid to access a media that gets seen by thousands if not millions of people, a media that people absorb with the same attentiveness of real life society. He is getting paid for what is essentially art, because it is going to affect those thousand/million people.

So yeah, it’s a problem. He’s a problem. He might be a great guy to know, but even a nice person can be a bigot.

Fuck that guy

I had 'branded' this blog with an image and quote inspired by the novel Stardust. It meant a lot to me. The Charles Vess illustrated version was the last book my mother read before the cancer metastasis to her brain took away one of her greatest joys in life. I lost a lot of respect for him when he married the ultimate manic pixie dream girl (which is shorthand for a whole host of behaviors), and just let myself enjoy the art I had enjoyed without buying anything new. Screw him for abusing those women, for their pain and confusion in an uneven power relationship. Yeah, what he has done has tainted something that mattered to me, but that's completely secondary. And if one of those women was the FOURTEENTH, why the fuck would the umpdg put the other 13 in his way? Fuck them both.
