Clexa, Curious by Hayley Kiyoko
Lexa dug her toe into the carpet of Clarke’s bedroom. She hadn’t meant for the question to come out, but it was like the words couldn’t be held in any longer.
They had been meeting like this for weeks now. It started off as nothing more than friends with benefits. Both girls understood that when they were together, it was a way to shut out the world for a while and just fall into each other.
It didn’t take long for the lines to start to blur. Clarke would ask Lexa to stay the night and curl close to her in the small bed. Lexa found herself staying awake those nights, staring up at the dark shadows that passed over Clarke’s ceiling. The questions started to stir in her head as she lay there rubbing Clarke’s bare arm softly.
‘Did Clarke have feelings for her?’
‘How much longer could she pretend that she wasn’t falling hard for Clarke?’
Clarke looked up at her, surprise evident in her expression. She hadn’t expected Lexa to ask this. Maybe that meant Clarke hadn’t really thought about them being together.
“What do you mean?” Clarke responded, still looking like Lexa had screamed at her.
“I mean I know that you and Finn are…” Lexa looked down at her feet, not able to get the rest of the words out.
“Lab partners?” Clarke replied.
Lexa looked up, her eyebrows raised curiously at Clarke’s answer. She saw there was a small smile playing on the blonde’s lips.
“Really?” Lexa couldn’t keep the edge of excitement out of her voice.
Clarke nodded bashfully and Lexa saw a slight pink tint coloring her cheeks.
“And us?” Lexa asked, reaching deep down inside of herself to use every once of courage she had.
Clarke didn’t respond, instead she got up and walked over to where Lexa was sitting on her bed. She brushed Lexa’s long, dark hair behind her ear slowly and gave her a deep kiss.
“Clarke,” Lexa breathed. “I don’t want to make this complicated for you.”
Clarke just shook her head and lifted her hand so her fingers could brush across the lips she had just kissed.
“Don’t you worry, I can handle it.”
