Hux tried to tell himself that he had allowed all of this to happen on purpose, it was part of his long term plan, letting Kylo fall into his otherwise tidy bed making a mess of everything, slipping in almost unnoticed nestled away under Hux’s tightly caged ribs, leaving him with expectations and a frustrating familiarity he did not want or need. Hux felt sick simply knowing how Kylo would enter his quarters unannounced and shed not only his clothes but the tense shroud of darkness oozing off him while on duty, becoming someone else almost entirely, someone Hux feared more than the monster. Someone as passionate as he was cruel. Hux shut his eyes tighter and exhaled slowly, as controlled as he possibly could as to not wake Kylo and let himself be all but consumed by the other man’s heat, thick arms wrapped tight around his narrow shoulders. How was he supposed leave such an obscure, fragile thing in the care of a reckless man with a reckless father both with track records for being nothing but careless, foolish. And yet, he still found himself with expectations, his heart beating sleepsluggish and steady under Ren’s starsplayed hand to the time of I trust you to keep me, safe at your side. Hux had turned the tables on himself, now playing the part of the fool in his own game.
