Warning for character death
Apollo had teleported to camp half blood, to the archery range where their son, Will Solace, was practicing archery but not quite getting a bullseye.
They spoke up, “Adjust your arm a bit, it’s too low.”
Will was spooked because of the sudden voice, but easily recognized it as his godly parent’s and fixed his stance, earning him a bullseye.
He sighed and set down the bow. Apollo frowned and came over to him, leading Will to a rock and they sat down, patting the area next to him for Will to sit down as well.
“What’s wrong, Will? You earned a bullseye, but didn’t celebrate.”
They spoke softly, running their hands through their son’s hair. Will sighed and relaxed in their parents grasp, and spoke, “I’m only good at healing. Kayla is amazing at archery, and Austin is super good with music.. it’s just, they have more useful skills than me.”
Apollo shushed him and hugged him tightly. “Never say that. You may think of that, but it’s not true. Kayla and Austin’s skills are good, indeed, but healers are the most important. They heal the front line, and save thousands of lives. It’s okay not save everyone, or if that’s all your good at.”
Will smiled softly and hugged him, then it dawned on him. He sat up slowly. “Your not supposed to be here. Didn’t you say Lord Zeus would punish you if you were here?”
Apollo had a small, sad smile on their face. “Yes, but I couldn’t help not letting my son know I’m their for him.”
They stood up and grasped Wills hand and they walked to the mess hall, and when they walked in, a flash of light blinded them.
Apollo felt dread fill their stomach.
“Apollo.” a voice boomed. That voice belonged to one man.
Zeus.
“Yes, father..?” They spoke with uncertainty, pushing their child further away from here. The mess hall was silent as they watched the interaction. Even Perseus Jackson, for once, was quiet.
“Didn’t I warn you not to come down here, unless you wanted to feel the wrath of my bolt?” Apollo shakily nodded.
Apollo has finally mustered up the courage to look their father in the eyes, and immediately regretted it. They were blinded by an agonizing pain, with screams that faded into a high pitch screech, then into nothing. They felt.. tingly. At peace. It was.. nice.
Maybe it wasn’t so bad.
The screams echoed through the mess hall. Percy had stood up and went to attack him, just as Zeus vanished. When they looked where apollo stood, all there was that remained was a glowing hyacinthus, with golden accents, and a faint scent of strawberries and ozone. Will felt himself break. Literally. His powers felt so weak, along with his siblings, they collapsed.
As will finally came through in the infirmary, he felt sadness, and rage.
Gods, so much rage
He felt mad, at Zeus, and the gods for doing nothing
Percy walked in, with a dark look on his face, Nico, Annabeth, and the rest of the seven trailing in. His siblings were looking at him too.
“We want revenge.” The remaining Apollo children spoke at the same time. Percy nodded.
“Apollo did NOT deserve that. He will not go down like that. We’ve planned to storm Olympus as soon as possible.”
Will nodded and stood up, he took a minute to gather his surroundings and shakily looked at percy, and everyone else, then nodded determinedly.
They began their ascend into Olympus, storming the King of the Gods only chance of survival being reduced to zero.
Artemis, Poseidon, and Hades went against him, and helped the Demi-gods.
Apollo would never be forgotten.
Neither would this day. Will had a smirk on his face. His parent would’ve loved to see this. His smile faded as one thought came to his mind on this.
[ @thatdamseries ] got matched with @sofia-not-sophie and used the prompts ‘Ten years later’ and ‘music lessons’ (I’m not sure whether this counts because it’s only a couple of lines but I’m counting it just to be sure). I don’t think any warnings are needed.
Everybody says winter is coldest season. I guess they are right, but as I look up to see him grinning at me I can’t help but think about how the warmth in my life was brought back to me in the depths of winter in the form of a dumbass former god that dropped into a dumpster.
I watched as his fingers danced over the keys of the piano. He had chosen to remain in his Lester form, as he often did when he hung out with me. He told me to pay attention so I could try and copy his movements afterwards, but I was distracted by the look on his face. He looked so peaceful. Like nothing in the world could ruin his mood while he was playing the piano.
I wondered how I got here. What I did to deserve to live in this wonderful house with people I cared about and what I did to deserve this dummy as my best friend. I was happy. I had nothing to worry about. Not Nero. Not any emperor. And most importantly not about my best friend doing something stupid and heroic and getting himself killed in the process. (Like seriously what’s his deal with that)
You know, it’s never not weird. Even after living for 23 years and dealing with all these mythology shenanigans for most of my life, it’s never not weird. Most of my friends here are nature spirits, my only parental figure is a Gaul without hands, my mother and my best friend are gods, Heck, I own a unicorn. I could’ve been a normal girl with a normal life who never had to worry about the people she cares about (or herself) dying. Yet I wouldn’t trade this for the world.
“Are you okay?”
I get snapped out of my daze and notice Apollo has stopped playing and is looking at me worriedly. I felt a wave of affection warming my heart.
“Yeah, just thinking about some things” I replied with a smile.
He nodded slightly and we sat in comfortable silence for a while after that. After a couple of minutes he looked at me and said: “You didn’t pay attention, did you?”
I shook my head smiling sheepishly. He chuckled and closed the lid of the piano.
“You want to go for a snack?”
“You know it”
I jumped up from my seat and rushed to the kitchen. I heard him chuckling and murmuring something that sounded like “some things never change” as he followed me.
I sat down at the kitchen table and began munching on the donuts I grabbed from the fridge. He sat down across from me and grabbed a donut. I kept cramming down the entire pack of donuts without shame. When I shoved the last donut in my mouth I looked up to find him looking at me with fondness is his eyes.
“What?” I asked, my mouth still full with donut.
“Nothing,” He replied looking amused, “I’m just thinking about how lucky I am to deserve a friend like you”
I swallowed and told him “sap” as if I hadn’t been thinking the exact same thing a couple of minutes before. He just grinned at me and walked to the trashcan to throw the empty pack of donuts away as if he couldn’t just make it disappear with a wave of his hand.
We ended up staying up all night watching marvel movies. And when I say we ended up staying up all night I mean he fell asleep after like 2 of them.
I turned off the tv and moved him in a more comfortable position. As I looked down at his sleeping form, looking so peaceful, I caught myself thinking: “People say winter is the coldest season, but I couldn’t feel warmer”
