11/365 A blast of summer in the middle of winter. About 10 years ago, three of my friends came home and could almost not stop jumping up and down because they loved Beirut so much. They had been to Roskilde and had fallen under a spell. And Beirut is truly magic. From New Mexico he filled his room with so many instruments that he could hardly fit in a mattress and when he got a bit older traveled to Eastern Europe. The mix is amazing Mariachi and Americana meets Balkan and that velvet voice. Definitive fan crush on this one.

8/365 On the 8th day of the year, it’s the first time for something brand new. Every morning I take the buss through down town Oslo and this song fits that sooo well. Maybe it’s the New York of Paul and Lauren that is coming through in the sound. I love how it is smoooth and beautiful, but at the same time has electronica/EDM elements suddenly. It sounds a bit like Kent and a bit like The Cure too. Brilliant, if you ask me. Really looking forward to hearing the rest of the album, and it has reminded me how much I like the Lacluster me album. Paul you are a hero, ever since 1985 when I was 6. Think I might go out and buy that new biography of his.

6/365 Today I give you no less than my ultimate happy song. This song is put on at ultimate moments of triumph in my life. it just cries for you to jump up and down. That scream in the beginning, those jumpy guitars and not to mention the swing over into the bridge. Bloody stellar, man. Classic British rock and very Helene. I have often said that my taste in music is very often “young-frustrated-man-often-british-rock” and this one fits that bill very much. So if Helene gets a new job or some other joyous occasion you know what record is turned on. Good for a Saturday, right? Hope you all have a great weekend.
