Dear KC, @thatonerecruit, this is my aesthetic for the recruit!
Since the recruit is technically an extension of us as a woman, in a way, I took a different approach. ^^” (I’m making no sense. Sorry)
Here’s my take on this:
Top: We are aware of the fact the recruit loves both men and women, since your fics have both femslash and straight-centered fics. Because of that, whomever the recruit should end up with....could be anyone. Man, woman, who knows? Love is love after all. I’m bisexual myself (With a preference to women xD), so I was really super happy to find these fics. XD Or....at least that’s how I see it.
Middle: In mythology, the phoenix is a bird that once every 1000 years or so, will return to its birthplace, set itself and its nest on fire, and turn into ashes. It will then be reborn. In the language of flowers, lotuses also symbolize rebirth, specifically in Buddhism; as they pop out of the murky mud they call home, to reach the surface of enlightenment. Since the recruit had such a troubled past (being with HYDRA and all) I’m not surprised she would hate it. Yet, now, she is with the Avengers. The ashes represent her old self with HYDRA, with the phoenix and lotus signifying she has been reborn...the killer has turned into a hero.
Bottom: The recruit cannot be taken lightly. She is a seasoned solider, killer, and combat expert. And yet, behind her violent ways, lies someone who a heart of gold. She is kind, but she is a storm. Mess with her and the ones she loves, and she will not hesitate to hunt you down. The wolf’s protective instincts reign supreme here. Her hunt shall be endless, and she shall not stop until the job is done.
WHEW! That was long! xD Sorry for the little rant. I tend to over-analyze and symbolism is my thing so...xD sorry ^^”
Anyway this is for thatonerecruit‘s little recruit family idea that she posted today, which is exciting. These are just a few of the face claims I’d use/imagine as part of the recruit’s family, with my faceclaim for her. I have included some extended family who don’t appear on the whole ‘core/involved’ family scope, but are still part of it nonetheless. Briefs/descriptions and more pictures follow (this post is a tad long whoops):
The Recruit
Age Range: 25 - 30
Faceclaim: Imogen Poots
Main area of work/interest: S.H.I.E.L.D./Avengers operations, global intelligence and defence
My Notes: Okay so obviously you already have my ideas for the recruit’s faceclaim (the age range I imagine with her is around 25-30), so have a pretty image to go with that. And as for her family, well:
Her Big Sister
Age range: 30 – 35
Faceclaim: Natalie Dormer
Main area of work/interest: private-sector security and intelligence
My notes: When KC started talking kick-ass big-sister with a refined ‘I will murder you without even rumpling my clothes’ look about her, Natalie Dormer just sprung to mind. Do not mess with this woman. Probably actually has some form of contact with most other family members aside from the recruit, and grandma is probably her secret-not-so-secret idol.
Her Little Brother
Age range: 17 – 20
Faceclaim: Thomas Brodie Sangster
Main area of interest: undecided? probably something to do with intelligence and investigation at this stage as I feel as though they’d baby him?
My Notes: I am among those who do not understand how this child is actually the same age as ATJ. Witchcraft. He’s adorable though so it’s fine. As for little brother, the family has probably tried to keep him in the dark as to their dealings and work, but he knows more than he lets on, and is a little spy in the making. Easily one of the youngest, if not the youngest, member of the family (including extended). Probably very ‘meddling kid’ kind of investigator, and sometimes does it just to annoy parents/big sis. Spends a lot of time with grandma because she’ll actually talk to him about her past career and tell him fun stories and give him little tips and tricks and basically indulge him and this exasperates other family members but he loves it. They would also be the two to have lots of fun conversations along the lines of:
- Grandma: Oh, is that what you did? personally I would have done this, it’s much more practical and less messy.
- Little Brother: You had to be there, gran.
Her Aunt
Age Range: 45-53
Faceclaim: Alex Kingston
Main area of work/interest: Government/internationally recognised intelligence agency/defence ministry (i.e. the ‘official’/’regulated’/’on the books’ version of big sis’ role)
My notes: Perfect spy-auntie for the spy-nieces. Shes probably a very high-ranking official and does have dealings with S.H.I.E.L.D./has had them in the past, and probably comes into contact with both of the nieces fairly often, but I feel as though she maybe, for security reasons, distanced herself from their family while the recruit was still quite young, so the recruit wouldn’t recognise her (big sis would though - she doesn’t say anything, mind). She has the most contact with big sis and grandma, and possibly isn’t too fond of her sister’s husband (recruit’s dad) for some reason? She drops in every now and then, entirely unannounced/with no warning, purely to annoy him (and her sister)
Her Parents
Age Range: 55 - 65
Faceclaims: Emma Thompson (mum) and Pierce Brosnan (dad)
Main area of work/interest: probably something to do with private sector investments and intelligence, possibly banking/journalism, or even consultancies/advisory positions
My notes: If anyone has seen Love Punch, you will know why I put these two together. Also If anyone has seen A Long Way Down, you will know why Pierce Brosnan is a perfect choice for the father of an Imogen Poots FC (ignoring the obvious Bond links). For some reason, I think the two of them may have met in a spy-kids-esque manner (the original film, where the parents meet as opposing sides of an operation and oh no they’re actually really attractive and clever oh no well this is happening). I imagine they’d probably have scaled back whatever it was that they’d done in their careers a decent amount once they realised that three children (or at least, two) were too important to put at risk. Which is not to say that they don’t still have quite an influence in the intelligence and governance community, just that they’re probably less likely to put their names to things/overtly take part in operations.
(what are you sending them, children? Maybe they’ve just broken into little brother’s computer. Whoops.)
Her Grandmother (maternal)
Age Range: 80-90
Faceclaim: Phyllida Law
Main area of work/interest: now retired, has a history of work as a codebreaker from early post-war period until more recent times
My Notes: I love this actress and she was my first choice for the recruit’s grandmother’s fc. She’s amazing (and she’s also Emma Thompson’s actual mum!). I imagine grandma is probably actually the one who influenced the kids’ initial interest in the family business, or at least, made them aware of the natural interest they would have inherited from both of their parents. She probably also keeps an eye on the recruit (she has her contacts), and every now and then has tea with her busy daughter (recruit’s auntie). Recruit’s parents probably have regular contact with her, as they’re under the impression that she needs to be looked after in her ‘stage of life’ (as recruit dad would put it), so she takes the opportunity to basically make things very difficult for him, and have lots of the usual snide/sarcastic conversations with the recruit’s mum (as mothers/daughters in this situation usually have, I speak from experience when I have observed my own mum and grandma). Has the best garden and this is constantly a source of annoyance and confusion for the recruit’s mum.
Other Family Members: They are not necessarily in as much contact with the core family of the recruit, or as involved in that side of the family at all, but are still noteworthy nonetheless.
Paternal Uncle
Age Range: 40-50
Faceclaim: Richard Armitage
Main Area of Work/Interest: Special ops/tactical operations
My Notes: Do people remember when this man was in Robin Hood? Because I do. Black leather and guyliner. Hot damn. Anyway, perfect severe/serious uncle figure with the offbeat uncle sense of humour. Probably maintains contact with the recruit’s dad, and may have had dealings with recruit and her sister, or their assocaites, in the past, but other than that, contact is fairly limited, I’d say, and probably is that way for most of the paternal side of the family.
Maternal Cousin
Age Range: 30-35
Faceclaim: Bryce Dallas-Howard
Main Area of work/interest: Investigative journalism (usually freelance)
My notes: This cousin would, I imagine, actually have had a fair few amount of run-ins with other members of the family, because let’s face it, you can’t be as involved in the areas they are without stirring up some kind of newsworthy intrigue and whatnot.
Maternal Uncle
Age Range: 38-42
Faceclaim: Matthew Macfadyen
Main area of work/interest: International aid and peacekeeping authorities
My Notes: Probably keeps in most regular contact with gran (the undisputed matriarch of the family), and with the recruit’s mother and father (by extension also with little brother). He’s got one of the less risky jobs, in terms of security threats and making enemies, so he’s probably not as conscious of that as some of the other family members. Hes similar to the recruit in that, with his job, he’s providing aid for people who need it, because he’s in a position to do so. His job is one of the least involved in the intelligence/defence area in the family.
Paternal Cousin
Age Range: 33-38
Face Claim: Lucy Brown
Main area of work/interest: PR and advisory work for major governing bodies.
My Notes: As I said before, I doubt the paternal side of the recruit’s family has very much to do with the core family at all, however this cousin may have begrudgingly been involved in some political spin-stories to help cover up incidents involving one or more of the other family members in the past.
Aunt In-Law
Age Range: 35-40
Faceclaim: Sara Martins
Main Area of work/interest: Undercover/covert espionage
My Notes: Couldn’t resist using this wonderful woman as a faceclaim. I imagine she’s married to the RA!paternal uncle, and they’re probably a team fearsome enough to rival the recruit’s parents. Again, she may have come into contact with the recruit’s family, however I doubt any of them except big sis would have known who she was.
Other faceclaims I have considered have been Russell Tovey, Tom Burke, and Damien Maloney for cousins, Keeley Hawes as an auntie, Dev Patel and Gemma Chan for cousin in-laws, and Hermione Norris and James Murray as aunt-in-law/uncle-in-law respectively.
Congratulations for making it to the end of this monstrous post. Enjoy guys!
The loose ends were tied in an incredibly tight knot and the realisation was hurting
A few tears leaked from your eyes and you laughed a little to try and stave off any more from falling. “Thank you, Wanda. I’m not sure of anyone has said that to you yet. I know I haven’t and I’m sorry, but thank you for everything you’ve done. You’re doing such a great job now. Everyone is so proud of you.”
- Roadtrip Part 4: Hearts
For the lovely thatonerecruit‘s wonderful recruit!reader/Wanda fic, featuring Imogen Poots as the recruit’s fc
“You are her family now and if you don’t keep her safe then I will find out and I will make you regret it.”
“Family is everything to us and while I might not be hers, she is mine.”
Maria wondered if you understood how lucky you were to have a guardian who cared so much about you to have directly threatened the Avengers without any care to her personal safety.
The Spy didn’t respond, though she was quietly appreciative of the gesture. “Just look after her.” Your sister left out ‘because I can’t’.
(x)
Based on a drabble from the lovely thatonerecruit‘s wonderful recruit/avengers series - the recruit’s older sister is not someone you want to cross!
The sister’s faceclaim is Natalie Dormer and the recruit’s fc is my usual - Imogen Poots (only seen in one gif here).
- My Songs Know What You Did in the Dark (Fall Out Boy)
- Do It Like A Dude (Jessie J)
- The Bullpen (Dessa)
6. List three things I’d change about our relationship.
I would like Natasha to consider me (and to some extent probably my brother) as more ‘grown up’ and as avengers - I know she already does, but there is a distinct ‘separation’ between us and some of the older members of the team and it would be nice to see that change at some point.
I would also like to be able to spend more time with Natasha without it being a part of training or a group bonding exercise, to get to know and understand her better.
I would most of all like for Natasha to trust me a bit better, but I understand that, given the events that lead my brother and I to joining the team, and the nature of my powers, this may take a very long time.
10. List three things I’d like them to do to/for me.
I would very much like Natasha to teach me some of the secrets to being better at reconnaissance and intimidation. There is no denying that she is masterful at both of these things, and that I have much to learn.
I would like Natasha to make me an alcoholic cocktail, as I have been informed that hers are some of the best.
I would also like Natasha to give me a massage. I have been told she is excellent at giving them and the training and missions can be very stressful and painful.
Do you have any hidden feelings for the Recruit that she doesn't know about
It is very likely that I have many, amice.
I do not think drăguţ is entirely aware of any feelings stronger than friendship, however as I myself am unsure about my own feelings, I feel it would not be wise to make her aware of them just yet.
I also do not know if she realises how important she is to me, and the level of trust I have in her. I hope this might change soon.
