bones breaks up with jim because he’s graduating high school and planning to go to a school in san francisco and he doesn’t want to make jim wait for him or maybe he feels like jim can find something better than him if he leaves

so they stay broken up for two months and bones finally comes home for a long fall break and he’s laying in his room, bundled up in thick blankets and a sweater that he got from jim one christmas when there’s a gentle knock on his door and BOOM IT’S JIM

they stare at each other for almost a solid 5 minutes before bones clears his throat and tells jim to come in. he’s hesitant but he eventually sits on the bed beside bones, picking up the loose hem of his sweater sleeve. finally they start talking together in a rush and they don’t stop until it’s 4 in the morning and jim has his shoes off, laying on the bed facing bones hand resting just beside bones’ on the sheet

punk!bones had an old record player and he and nerd!jim dance around his bedroom to 80s rock music until they get tired and fall on top of each other, laughing and sweaty and in love

Nerd!Jim being all excited to get tattoos because he's head over heels for punk!Bones and loves his tattoos, likes to trace them with his fingers when Bones is sprawled out on the bed. Jim getting a tattoo while Bones holds his hand and distracts him. Bones sitting down for a tattoo after Jim is finished and, he's been saving this surprise, getting the skeleton of his fingers tattooed on his hands because he's started to accept(/love) Jim's nickname for him.

but he still struggles a little so bones goes through a hundred different topics

before finally he starts singing to jim

real low in his ear, soft little songs jim made him listen to because they reminded jim of bones

IMAGINE!!! bones teaching jim how to properly care for his tattoos

and maybe jim gets on on his nape and he struggles with keeping it lotioned up so bones always reminds him and does it

or or like maybe bones has a bad habit of scratching itches no matter what they’re from and he goes for his fingers because damn healing sucks and jim smacks his shoulder like dONT U FUCKNI DARE RUIN THEM I LOVE THEM TOO MUCH

and maybe they get like ??? sorta matching tattoos

nerd!jim beating the shit out of the bullies who are picking on jaylah because she’s new and has an accent and he gets a black eye and saturday schools for two months straight but it’s so worth it because bones brings him breakfast and no one messes with jaylah anymore

Imagine punk!bones taking nerd!jim to his first concert and being super protective of him, and then lending Jim his leather coat that's too big on jim while they walk home

jim dancing and laughing, jumping around bones who’s swaying with the music but watching jim having fun. twirling him in circles as he goofs around to the music. bones’ heart is beating to the rhythm of the bass because it’s moving fast and he feels the lyrics, feels them when he looks at jim and sees a future and a beginning 

then when the concert’s over they walk home hand in hand and jim is like “do you want your jacket back, it’s really cold bones” and bones is like “no kid it looks better on you” and of course jim rolls his eyes because bones is literally 1 year and 7 months older than him 

and when they get to jim’s house, bones takes jim’s face so so carefully and presses kisses to his little frosty nose and his eyelids and finally his lips and jim is breathless 100% because this hot boy is in love with him and they just went and saw jim’s favorite band and there are so many stars in the sky 

and jim thinks back to the shooting star he saw on the first day of 9th grade when he wished for something good in his life and that something good is wrapped around him, fingers softly caressing his face
