November Cake Loverboy - part 4
Finn can feel tufts of coarse cliff grass straining their way through the fabric of his shirt and poking the skin underneath as he lies on the ground, but he does not re-adjust himself. He can feel the onset of a faint sunburn on his cheeks, but the makes no move to seek out the relief of shade. His sweat is beginning to pool in every crevice in which it can collect itself and his is neck is becoming mildly uncomfortable. He refuses to move a single muscle. The reason of course, is because Daniels head is resting on his stomach, his mouth emitting cute little snoring sounds that match the rise and all of his chest. The wind whistles through the grass and brushes his hair across his face. He cards his hands gently through Daniels soft brown hair, careful to not disturb the dainty flower crown resting delicately on top of his curls. They had spent nearly an hour roaming the hillside, picking flowers and brown cliff grass, braiding them into knots of threes and sevens until they were vaguely crown shaped before settling down to eat the picnic they had packed.
Daniel begins to stir in Finns lap, stretching out and yawning before smiling up at Finn. his crown slightly askew on his head, freckles standing out in the burning sunlight. Finn feels content.
Faint shafts of light pour through Fins window as he stirs blearily into consciousness. The feeling of Daniels hair slipping through his fingers and the warmth of the summer sun begin to fade as wakefulness steals the last traces of the dream away from him. He rolls over in an attempt to fall back asleep but the cruel scream of a capaill jolts him awake and he remembers. Today is November first. Daniel is racing today.
