ricky couldn’t help but let out a light laugh, though, he was sure to give big red a reassuring smile, to show that he wasn’t necessarily laughing at him. a hand reached out to give big red a gentle pat on the shoulder. “it’s okay, dude. honestly, i appreciate it anyways. especially considering you didn’t even have to get me one.” he said genuinely, though, it was his turn to blush now. “i mean, i wasn’t even that good. nini’s the one you should be getting a card.”

a compliment from ej was not exactly what ricky would have expected. sure, their relationship was somewhat better than it had been a couple months ago, ricky wasn’t throwing basketballs at his face anymore and ej wasn’t randomly glaring at him anymore. but they weren’t exactly best of friends or anything, or really even friends at all. and he wasn’t even sure if ej even liked him, especially given the look on the other’s face at the moment. still though, gave a small smile of thanks. “oh, uh, thanks, man. i like your shoes too, converse aren’t that bad.” he told the other, internally cringing at himself.
