Basil got lost twice on his way to Thalia's place, but fortunately, he was not above asking for directions. On the way, he'd made some friends and even gotten a phone number. It was a good day.
He rapped rhythmically on the door--or, at least, he thought it was rhythmic, but he'd never been especially musical--and rolled back on his heels, waiting for Thalia to open the door so they could do this cooking thing.
His earring was in because he was praying to Harmony that he wouldn't set everything on fire. Things tended to blow up in his vicinity.

"Oh, you're----
Rust, now I'm almost embarrassed. You're Justice Hordreu's daughter. I was the one who pestered her to give me the warrant for the Tellaire case. Sorry, I believe I've gotten ahead of myself. Detective Kalrien Venture. I was hoping to speak with you about a lead I found on a recent case. I'd kind of been hoping you weren't that Hodreu. You probably haven't heard many good things about me."

"Whoa! Hey, didn't see you there! Might wanna take a step or two back, though." Basil peered down at the device in his lap. "If this thing blows, you're not gonna be super happy."
He paused. That probably didn't sound too reassuring. The bomb technician backpedaled quickly, babbling despite the ticking of the timer. "It's not dangerous, though, so you don't have to worry even if it does blow, it's just not especially--"
The counter reached zero and there was a small blast, sending a rain of confetti down within a ten-foot radius. "--Rusts."
