When Aacha is born, Drift is lucky enough to be on a few weeks of leave time and between him and Kyiari are able to wrangle him permission to stay in the temple for a short time. Of course, it won’t be long before Kyiari is up and training again and only a short time after that before she takes command again and they ship out while Aacha goes to the creche. But they have a few weeks during which time Drift is almost never around other troopers beyond his responsibilities and even then he’s distant and gets things done quickly as he can and he’s off again. Until just after Aacha got the last of her newborn vaccines and was protected enough to go visiting. At which point Drift decides to give Kyiari a rest because it’s time for little Aacha to go to the barracks and meet her many, many uncles.
