The most grateful of shoutouts to: @likesummerrainn @haat-osee @wesandresons @lawsonblakestan and @saltydornishman for the encouragement and feedback that got me to write, even if it was you simply replying to one of my nonsense Andrew/Amy posts. If any of you do decide to read this, I really hope you enjoy it.
quick if andrew cody were getting a "real job" because he needed a source of income because he's stuck in a fanfiction where that was a thing he'd need to do, what do we think the job might be? hypothetically
hmmm to the like three other people with me in the center of the venn diagram of "animal kingdom watchers" and "deeply invested in andrew/amy":
I'm fix-it fic-ing, what pet name(s) would she use with him? because she definitely does. she uses baby once in the show (at the most depressing possible time hooray) but for me smurf has ruined that word in regard to him and the boys so it ain't gonna be that.
okay Andrew/Amy besties (that's all of you!), we talk about our boy a lot but what are your Amy headcanons?
all the backstory I can remember we have on her is:
1) Chris, who is eight, who her brother Nate currently has custody of because of a car accident where she'd been drinking. she says Chris was "okay, eventually" after the accident so presumably he got pretty hurt
2) when Nate meets Andrew he references her "dating another guy with anger issues" (ps Nate leave him alone he was defending her)
3) when she needs to go talk to the cops about the church job she says they bring up a shoplifting charge from when she was nineteen and her DUIs (implying more than one)
if I may propose for the Andrew/Amy Fix It Fic or the AAFIF if i may be allowed to call it: i've had this idea kinda floating in my head about andrew and physical touch and we know that he's had sex before and it was never a positive thing until amy. and part of that came from their first time being Not Really Sex but something like. the two of them sitting together and working through what Good Touching feels like. yes they've already had sex but there's just something about being intentional with andrew that i think is the key to their relationship. her asking him 'is this okay? does this feel good?' and waiting for him to give the yes or no.
omg discussion about the AAFIF (which is what it shall be known and tagged as from now on, you're a genius) I'm so happy!!! the more we reference it the sooner I may actually get the damn thing done because it is shaping up to be long.
I loooooooove that idea! it actually works in really nicely with a bit I just wrote which isn't about physical stuff but rather him having possible sensitivities/quirks/boundaries in regard to his mental situation* and her encouraging him to be comfortable asking for something he needs, even if he thinks she might not like it (hint: she doesn't mind). like if his senses are overloaded and he kind of needs to just be by himself in a different room for a bit, knowing she's not going to be upset when he asks her to Please Leave Me Alone (affectionate).
*shoutout and also screw you to this show for being infuriatingly inconsistent about what andrew's Deal is mentally. I am flying by the seat of my pants here.
this is too long because it's me so of course it is, so. cutting it.
I totally agree that him having the opportunity and encouragement to say what he does/doesn't like physically (even if what he likes ends up being most of it because it's Her) is so significant for him, just that act of someone caring enough to check and make sure, of someone wanting to know what he wants.
both of them, really, have this nicely well-matched need to both care and be cared for. we don't get a ton of background on amy but to me it feels valuable for her to be able to lead a little bit with someone who wholly trusts her to do it. and for andrew I think there's a lot of peace in learning to ask for what he wants while also having someone he can completely trust to get him there.
I'm more of an M-rating/fade-to-black writer so probably won't get too explicit about it (never say never) but there's still lots to work with there.
also get well soon to anyone who thinks andrew's full of depraved kinks because I'm pretty confident that much of the time that boy honestly just wants his girl to vanilla fuck him like she loves him. which is very valid of him tbh
sometimes I worry I'm writing our dear mr andrew cody as too dramatically depressed but then I remember there's a scene of him curled in a ball on the floor of his shower
working on the fic and andrew cody is trying desperately to make chicken soup (it doesn't matter why) and i think maybe this poor man needs to have a breakdown in the grocery store right in front of all the vegetables. the fuck is a leek, why are there so many colors of onions, "large carrot" what does that even mean what's the standard weight difference between a large carrot and a small carrot??
