MAX² KICKING AND BREATHING IN 2026?????
THE ACCLAIMED REUNITED THIS WEEKEND.
After Anthony Bowens defeated Max Caster at WrestlePro X… Bowens called Caster back into the ring and called a truce between them. The two then scissored and hugged.
This is 3 minutes long and I'll be surprised if they can air even half of it on tv 🤣 (link)
I find it fascinating that AEW has done such a good job letting queerness be naturally present on its shows that the fans are rejecting Anthony Bowens' clean cut, safe-for-corporate, "Pride of Pro Wrestling" inoffensive gay character. He gets in there with Max Caster, and people would rather cheer for the more-interesting and authentic-feeling chaotic closeted(?) messy pathetic bisexual(??) who instigates drama.
Bowens could easily be the face of any corporate pride event. Yet he is nowhere near as over as Toni Storm, who is out here insinuating she has STIs from all the messy sex from weirdos she sticks her large package in. It's like people want the parts that are a little offputting to people who would be assholes about queerness.
It's also interesting that we are letting this overly-produced, Five Tool Player Bowens be the heel (?) in his storyline with Billy Gunn and Max Caster. Like, yeah, the crowd can't actually love you for who you are if you aren't being your authentic self. I'm real curious about where this goes because it feels like you could write a whole essay about the queer experience of not sanding off your edges for others and how people will more authentically love the real, messy you.
😂
