Anyways, they never really explained on Picard why the Borg cube shut down as soon as they assimilated Professor Ramdha, but I think that it's actually probably ideological. The Borg believe that they're nearing perfection by combining the organic with the synthetic, so finding a message from a vastly more powerful civilisation that maintains that synthetic life is perfect seems like it would be a heresy of the highest order. So the collective just cut the cube right off to prevent the Admonition from spreading

An ancient message from a long-dead race, warning about the threat of artificial life (”synthetics”), which is sent directly into the mind and can drive the receiver mad....

If it turns out the ancient synthetic race were giant cuttlefish I’m calling shenanigans!

So it just occurred to me that some of the 'sphere data' on Star Trek: Discovery must have included knowledge of the Admonition, and *that* was what drove Control to madness.
