Alissa White-Gluz / The Agonist - "PRISONERS" Backstage 2012
words by the agonist collage by quietlymakingsomeart
The Mass of the Earth (The Agonist) This song is about a wanderer on a quest to understand the truth. While travelling, she encounters a polluted desert town in a ten-year drought and a civilisation at war. The traveller decides save them by absorbing all of their pain into herself.
This song is Buried because of the weight of the traveler’s obligation to be a hero. She states that the reason she does all this is because of the mass of the earth weighing heavily upon her:
“I picked up the pieces, I was your vigilante soldier But the mass of the earth weighs too heavily on me.”
As the chorus states:
“So I’m asking you, help me carry, I’m Atlas, Jesus, Hades, Please someone just take this weight off me, The destination is obsolete, There’s nothing left but wrong with me.”
Hand Me My Shovel, I'm Going In (Will Wood and the Tapeworms) This is not enough, this is not enough, not enough to prove it yet No, I need to hit the bottom
Song for when you're in a hole and can't bring yourself to stop digging.
