Confucius said that drinking in moderation is fine (he also had good things to say about studying ancient texts.)

The first reddit thread ever recorded can be found in the Romance of the Three Kingdoms in the chapter titled "Kong Ming Debates the Wu Scholars"

Previous research erroneously identified Plato's Dialogues as the first Reddit Thread, but recently scholars have acknowledged that because the Dialogues are fictional, and thus do not record and actual debate, they are instead the first known instance of making a guy up to be mad at.

Some of you may argue the Analects are actually the real first reddit thread but the literary form they inhabit makes them closer to a SomethingAwful forum thread than a reddit thread.
