Though Rati was daughter to the fiery sun god Daksha, she is associated with water. The Apsaras – a group of water goddesses as changeable as the tide – include this Hindu love goddess among their many members. Renowned for their bewitching, shapeshifting powers, the Apsaras often take on the appearance of seductive women, with long, dark hair heavily perfumed with sandalwood.
