Getting strong time travel vibes. The Hermits who didn’t go through the portal left wondering where everyone went, why aren’t they coming back, are they even still alive. The remaining Hermits banding even closer together. Iskall threatening Grumbot Prime.

ESPECIALLY considering when the hermits come back through the rift, Grumbot is broken and a mess and DEFINITELY not it working order. Is Iskall the one who broke his face??? OOOOOOOOOO this is such a GOOD idea I'm

They'd been looking for a week now, Iskall and Mumbo. Well, they weren't the only ones looking, but they were partnered up. Mumbo was upstairs, in the giant rock Grian called home, looking for any sign of the avian at all. Iskall was staring at the rift.

It was black. If he reached out and touched it, it was like touch glass but smoother. It was so cold his hand hurt to keep it on for too long. His eye told him nothing.

He turned and looked at the robot that made up the other side of the room. Grumbot never made him feel particular good to look at. It was Grian and Mumbo's thing, but it always creeped Iskall out just a little bit. Moreso now, when the Grumbot he was looking at wasn't even the real Grumbot. Grumbot Prime.

"Where did they go?" he called into the cave. Noises didn't echo in here anymore, with everything Grian put into it. The robot bleeped and blooped and then a piece of paper dispensed into the little standing area. Iskall was pretty sure he was supposed to feed Grumbot a piece of paper, but he wasn't going to argue with the thing.

'The rift' the machine wrote back. Iskall frowned. That was not new information.

"Where did the rift go?" he asked instead.

More noise, more paper, 'Ask Father 1'. Iskall balled up the paper this time.

"Listen here you - machine!" he shouted. It didn't sound very intimidating to his own ears, and Grumbot Prime had no reaction, but he had to do something. He climbed on top of the dispenser area and threw a rock. It fell short, but he felt like it got his point across. "Tell me what you know or so help me I will climb in the back of you and mess with your wiring-"

At that,Grumbot Prime's noises started up again and another paper came out. Iskall turned to read it without moving. 'Ask Father 1'. Rage filled his veins and he turned to keep yelling at the robot.

"Mate, I think it's told you everything." That was Mumbo's voice. Iskall jumped and turned to watch as Mumbo struggled to land, holding his arms out for balance as he legs stumbled forward a good few steps. "I don't know if yelling at...my pseudo-not-quite-son is really going to fix anything."

Iskall turned to glare at Grumbot Prime again and scrunched his face up before hopping down and rejoining Mumbo. The Rift seemed like an awfully large expanse from here. He took a deep breath and rested his head on the other's shoulder, trying not to make himself sick. Mumbo's hands found their way to his back and rubbed in soft circles.

"Let's take a break for the day. Neither of us have eaten, and I didn't find anything in Grian's base we don't already know of," Mumbo said.

Iskall couldn't really argue with that, though given how today had gone, he couldn't really argue with anything.
