Eat your broccoli

Remember when you were a kid and your parents told you to eat vegetables? Vegetables were good for you and besides, someday you might really like them.

I kept that in mind when I walked around Harvard’s Graduate Center (1950) yesterday. I enjoy a lot of the residential projects by The Architects Collaborative (TAC), particularly Gropius House ( bottom 3 photos) in Lincoln (1938). New aspects of it delight me each time I visit. 

I wondered if  the Harvard Trustees wanted a post war campus that showcased the international architectural style TAC was known for to celebrate a new era? Regardless of motivation, this part of Harvard is worth a visit. I’m not really moved by this complex, not yet -but it may grow on me over the years. After all, I love broccoli now.
