Don't know much about the current discourse vis-a-vis a certain transfeminist blogger but I think that we would be better off if we A. Stopped conflating self-aggrandization and "writing a very long essay" with being smart, having something to say, or indeed even having a coherent point. And B. Started treating obvious desire for celebrity as a reason to view everything someone says with inherent distrust.
She is dead. You all murdered her.

unapologetically horny gifs i made a while ago that immediately got hit with a mature content label before i could post them lmao
let's see how long it takes this time
edit: 0.5 seconds
Me when my girlfriend with the photographic memory who probably hates me gets mad that my insanely insecure friend is making her recount the entire night word for word because he had an argument with his girlfriend who is emotionally cheating on him with her actor friend who on a side note i’ve met and he still has no idea who i am but im a kind and gentle soul so i simply and accidentally offer this other guys girlfriend too much alcohol so she gets sick and everyone gets mad at eachother and my girlfriend storms out angrily because she has a “real job” and “needs sleep” so i later on scream at a sock puppet version of her played by a young man who is dually playing me in this recount of the night asking her what happened to us
Democrats are hitting a ceiling. Could crime show us why?
Key Takeaways:
Trump’s net approval is -22 — a historical low even for him. Approaching Bush ‘43 levels. But Democrats lead the generic ballot by just 6 points.
Why?
Among voters who disapprove of Trump but still lean GOP, 47% think republicans are better on crime to just 1% who thinks democrats are better, implying crime is a key issue preventing democrats from picking up more voters
In general there is far more support for being harsh on crime than on being lenient
Apropos of a notorious NYT column recently, most voters support jail time for repeat shoplifters. Only 8% want a pure social services focus and only 21% want only fines as a punishment.
In fact, a “progressive” approach to crime reduction is broadly popular if it focuses on education and job training. But there are still large majorities in favor of harsher sentencing and increased police funding as well.
If I were to try to square that circle I’d say voters are open to socially based crime prevention but once someone commits a crime would prefer you throw the book at them
The saving grace for the democrats isn’t persuasion but rather turnout. With Trump-disapproving republicans simply more likely to stay home
This means in terms of who shows up Dems could win by 10 points
The key thing to understand here is that you can win a blow out victory in a midterm because the president is deeply unpopular, but if you want to win big in a presidential year when people are more likely to show up, you have got to actually meet the voters where they are.
This is one poll and while people clearly disagree with Dems on crime, we don’t know how much that factors into the actual vote. But the fact is you cannot rely on republicans being absurdly incompetent and unpopular to win every election. You have to moderate the party’s image and compromise on SOME positions to get back to broad popularity.
