Been to The Boil for some creole style seafood? Highly recommend! Check out my blog for my experience.
Gem of a find in NYC
I took the A train to 4th St from training, transferred onto the B line and got off at Grand St. I was a little lost so Chewy had to come get me, LOL. I met up with Ariel and Emily at The Boil, and we were seated right away :)
A little background of the place: Fairly dark lighting (think Hollister, maybe even darker), plenty of people, and a lot of laughter and good vibes. We got seated somewhere in the back, so it was even darker.
What we ordered:
Cajun fries - You could taste the somewhat-thick film of seasoning sitting on top of the fries. BUT, it actually worked really well with the fries. Tasty, but kinda pricey for the amount we got
Soft shell crabs with Cajun fries on the bottom - I believe it was 2 crabs per order, so we split each one in half. It's my first time trying soft shell crabs, and it was pretty good!
1lb of clams in the O'Bay (or OBay?) sauce - mmm, I like clams a lot so I really enjoyed this lol. They put a lot of sauce in the stuff, and the sauce is delicious so win-win!
Combo A: 1lb of crayfish and 1lb of shrimp with some potatoes, some cut up sausages, and one corn on the cob in the "Boil Special" sauce - omg, the sauce was delicious :D I think it may have been my first time trying crayfish too, but personally I preferred the shrimp. Crayfish is mostly shells with really little meat ): But regardless of that, I just think the sauce did some justice for all of it LOL. Would definitely recommend the "Boil Special" sauce n-n
The amount of food we got for 4 people was probably not extremely filling, but it puts you at a good place if you don't want to feel really full. The bill came out to around $57 (excluding tip) for the four of us, so it is a bit pricey but I think for seafood and for a first time experience, it was worth it. But of course, if you don't like seafood, this is not the place for you :P A+ for the guy putting the bib on for you and giving us the gloves, LOL. Overall rating of 8.5/10 n_n
