Finally, they are assembled.
Gaze upon the wonder that is the Catourage.
Oh what a most wondrous thing, to find oneself amidst a break from work.
Thorin and Gloin wanted to say hello. As for the others? Fuck around and find out.
A few years back I would have been too foolishly embarrassed to dedicate as much online content indulging in my adoration for my cats and our history together in some misplaced fear of being ashamed of my state, but now...
I may not be where I would like to be in regards to my mental health and my relationship with the concept of helming my own life...
Yet I would not be here, and I would not be trying and putting this much effort into doing better now if it weren’t for them and their continued influence.
They are important on their own - they too have their ghosts and terrors that thankfully their smaller brain is kind enough to allow them to forget, and much better than that, they have such rich and stunning personalities, garner such affection for each other, have made this house their little village in all its complex culture and dynamics.
They are important to me, for how they include me in this little society of theirs, unconditionally, with no judgment or restraint in their welcome, understanding and love.
And I am... important to them - not just because I bring in their sustenance and tend to their basic needs, but also because I am myself. They like my long hair, perfect for chewing and snuggling. They like how I am always surrounded with comfortable clothes and long blankets. They like that over the years I have learned the specific patterns and rhythms to how each and every one of them enjoys being brushed and petted. They always know when it is Netflix binging time, when it is exactly one minute before I arrive home, when I must depart, when I sneak off the comfort of the bed to use the restroom in the middle of the night. They know when I must use the laptop or the writing set, they are chaotic helpers of every chore.
Every day we slay our dragons and claim our home and gold.
Every day we are thankful to be each other’s all.
