An Amazing Thing happened yesterday. When I went to the apartment complex to give them my move in money, I asked to take a walkthrough of my apartment so I could get an idea of what to bring in. We went in and there was a tiny bug that freaked out the apartment manager but didn't fuss me. The big thing was a total surprise to both of us, so much so that the manager actually said "What the fuck is that?!" We heard a strange noise in the bathroom and discovered that the ceiling over my bathtub was raining. I mean, a steady stream of water draining through a hole and black mildew on the wall. And a bug in the bathroom sink. And I did not freak out. I shrugged and told her that I knew they'd take care of it, that it was no big deal and I'm still moving in this weekend. Seriously, she was freaking out while I was totally chill. I confirmed that there is a shower rod and examined the fridge and we left with her apologizing profusely and telling me how glad she was that we did a walkthrough. She promised it would be fixed and I told her we were cool. If you know me you'll know just how huge this was for me. Instead of freaking out and stressing or running home to take a Xanax and turn off all the lights I just sort of let it slide off me and went about my business because I knew things were gonna turn out okay. This might even be a first for me. I'm sure I'll find something to stress out about this weekend but for now I'm just basking in the glow of my calm and not worrying about things. As soon as The Dad gets home it'll all go to shit, I'm sure.
