The worst episode of any police procedural is the obligatory Blue Lives Matter episode where a patrol officer gets killed in the line of duty so that gives the main characters carte blanche to do the most horrendous shit imaginable to the perpetrators without consequences.
The Closer
I’m watching this show for the first time. I’m only on Season 4, so no spoilers please. Are we supposed to like her and Fritz’s relationship? All they do is argue! Also, why is she trying to have a baby at 40? Not only is that too old, she is so busy with her job that she doesn’t even have time for Fritz, and she wants to add a baby to the mix?! I don’t understand it.
the closer is truly a fascinating piece of copaganda bc there is SO much police brutality and manipulation in police interviews, plus plenty of glorification of the fbi and lapd of course. but i thought today i hit an Early Woke episode because the fbi agent was bothered by fat jokes (????) and i was thinking whoa are we flipping the script in a tiny way?? are we raging against societal expectations and fatphobia in the early 2000s???
but no. he was bothered bc he had heard the fat jokes before, on a case he wasn't able to close in the past. and that's how they get the culprit, by exposing a pattern via fat jokes and dead bodies. yay cops
the most miserable little guy to ever exist </3
Now that I'm almost finished with Major Crimes I'd like to say...
What in the hell are with the pacing issues? I'm getting tired of being hyped up for something the main characters are doing only to be shut out at the end of the episode. The perpetual cliffhanger wink nudge bullshit can bite me.
Is this a safe space to admit I've always thought Provenza's first name should've been spelled Louis instead of Louie?
