Do you have favorite tropes?
Hmm, I do enjoy writing a good Bottle Episode. Shows use them to save money, but I find they're a great way to really dig into character. I've written several over the years, including "Things That Go Bump" on The Dresden Files, "Last Call at the Broken Hammer" on Andromeda, and "Invasive Procedures" on DS9. "The Wire" is ALMOST a bottle show, except for the journey to meet Tain.

I've also written my fair share of ALMIGHTY JANITORS and the related BADASS ADORABES. Garak is an Almighty Janitor. So is Harper. Harper, Trance, Rose, and Ancient Mai can all be seen as Badass Adorables. Both Lexi and Frost, in my Billy Smith and the Goblins novels have elements of this trope.

And finally, I enjoy writing action heroes embodying the DOESN'T LIKE GUNS trope, like Rose in The Irrational, or my version of Harry Dresden, who doesn't carry a pistol (unlike Jim's, who packs).
