The mouthwashing fandom has a problem… and it’s that I can’t go five min of scrolling through two certain sites without running into someone saying “liking x character is bad”, “media literacy is dead”, “drawing curly like this is ableist”, “actually if Anya had just told x then none of this would have happen”, “they should have just killed jimmy, and because they didn’t-“ blah blah blah!
It’s this idea that you have to have this “correct” viewing of the game, and view certain characters as black and white. When in truth they are grey characters (except for the obvious villain) in a COMPLEX SITUATION. Stuck in space for a year with limited cryo pods and no proper holding cell.
My views about certain characters aside it’s EXHAUSTING to be constantly bombarded with opinions that boil down to “you don’t see it the way I do? You are a bad person!”
Shit like this burns out fandoms fast and pushes creators away from wanting to draw fanart for the fandom.
Try to be kind and try not to jump towards “this person is doing something horrible” when they have a slightly different view than you over a piece of media that doesn’t have its themes and messages hitting you over the head with a hammer
