Couple Alaina Moore and Patrick Riley were in peak, no-nonsense form, despite anxieties, full of their retro soft rock vibes—think acid-washed, high-wasted, no-pocket jeans, perm and mop top haircuts—with catchy, nostalgic musical riffs.
LA psych gazers Froth brought their succinct and dream-like Outside (briefly) to a spirited audience at the Cobalt, one of Vancouver’s favourite psych hang outs. Also on tour from Los Angeles, Moaning, a punchy, loud and agile three piece, showed some impressive chops alongside local psych-rockers the Orange Kyte. The evening’s rich, swirling guitar textures found visual support in the tripy and dazzling projections of the Josh Ryan Light Show. As per usual, Froth & company received a more than warm reception from Vancouver’s growing and dedicated psych fans.
