DA ANE, Simon’s commentary
Okay so, I’ve watched Downton Abbey A New Era with Simon’s commentary (Simon as Simon Curtis the director also husband of Elizabeth McGovern, very important information). It was very nice, I highly recommend it ! You can sense that he loves Downton, the cast and the crew. It was so sweet hearing him talk about all the people involded in this, he loves and admires Julian Fellowes. He felt so honoured to have been part of it like it was truly lovely.
He hoped that the fans will not be too disappointed about the fact that Henry is not here because they couldn’t get Matthew Goode (he said it more than once).
It was his idea to have a miniature of Violet at first it was supposed to be a photo falling out of a book. And it was Michelle Dockery’s idea to have Violet portrait in the hall at the end.
He said that he has read blogs, I repeat HE HAS READ BLOGS ! Just this piece of information made me love him even more. Well he said that about Baxter and Molesley, saying that he knows from what he read that they are a very loved couple by the fans. He talked a lot about the fans actually.
He also said multiples times that the actors are playing a family but they truly are a family. And that the chemestry between them was incredible. He confirmed that Baby Branson that we see at the end of the film is Laura Carmichael’s baby. And actually the film was supposed to end after Violet’s death and the procession but they decided to end it on a happy note and the idea that life goes on.
And about Cobert and McGonneville, well he said that he was very happy that Cora and Robert have a proper storyline, he loves their scenes together. He said that Hugh and Elizabeth’s performance as husband and wife is incredible, they’re close friends and he is with them (well he literally is married to Elizabeth), he loved doing their scenes. And about THAT scene, he said that they played it superbly, he found it very moving to see Robert like this and he is very proud of Elizabeth.
No, I don’t think spending 2 hours watching Lady Gaga’s VMA performance of Paparazzi on repeat is concerning in any way. Why do you ask?
the most entertaining thing is being on call with @symbolstill while she’s working on stuff.
DEVIL. JUDGE.
Omg.
That is all.
