The Creation Factory is a rock n’ roll band from Los Angeles with a deep affinity for ’60s-era garage and psychedelic grooves. Featuring members of other L.A. neo-psych bands such as Mystic Braves and Triptides, the group released their self-titled debut full-length this past week. The Creation Factory demonstrates a staggering palette of blues-infected sounds that feels straight out of the Summer Of Love. Utilizing authentic ’60s instruments and recording gear, the band blends together an organic, analogue production aesthetic with modern songwriting sensibilities, resulting in songs that are retro and infectious. Opening single “You Be The Judge” features nostalgic guitar and organ melodies, combined with an instantly catchy chorus and on-point vocal harmonies. The result is a something akin to The Yardbirds and The Byrds. Moreover, the blasting power chords and explosive drum beats on “I Don’t Know What To Do” are reminiscent of The Kinks’ upbeat, adrenaline-infused stylings. The Creation Factory steeps themselves in scratched-vinyl nostalgia, but their songwriting approach is modern and designed to get crowds up off their feet and moving. For instance, closing track “Hallucination Generation” is the fuzziest psychedelic detour, with knotty guitar melodies and hard-charging drum beats enticing listeners to both trip out and slam dance in equal measure. Ultimately, the album is a diverse and crafty update on the sounds that serve as the foundation of rock music. The Creation Factory is out now via Lolipop Records. .....~ People don’t dance anymore to rock bands, but The Creation Factory is here to change that. Channeling the sounds of 1960s psychedelic beats, the Los Angeles-based five-piece isn't just making music—"we're capturing the sort of sounds that people don’t hear anymore," says front man Shane Stots—it's creating an experience. "We’re bringing sounds back from the grave, maybe better than they were before,” Stots, who’s also a member of Los Angeles rock group Mystic Braves, says-and he’s not kidding. The group uses authentic 1960s gear (and an era-appropriate look) to create blues-infected rock designed to get a crowd’s feet moving. It’s no wonder, then, that the band-which sold out its first show and has a full length debut album out this May on Lolipop Records will be heading to Europe in August to perform at the mod & 60’s underground weekender Euroyeye. The Creation Factory was formed in 2014 when Stots and Iggy Gonzalez (drums) pieced together a style infused gang of psychedelic bandits, including band members Neil Soiland and Gabriel Pacheco on guitar and Glenn Brigman on keyboards. While the musical appeal of The Creation Factory's hard to ignore, Stots insists the band's also out to show fans what they've been missing. “I’m trying to revive music and expose it to a younger generation," he says. "I'm going backwards to go forward." So, while the past is firmly on The Creation Factory’s side, it’s the future that truly belongs to the band......~
