She’s a part of one of my many OC universes, but the one she’s a part of is an alt earth style thing with a lotta superheroes and stuff. She’s one of many on a team, and her team has the running gimmick of powers/costumes/personality/team role contrasting and complementing eachother. So her powers (or rather her bracelets’ powers) are umbrakenesis, but her costume isn’t super reflective of that (one of my friends said she looked like a speedster lmao), her personality is really peppy but with a vibe of “yeah no I’m super cool,” and her team role is a mix of the team heart, leader, and mechanic/engineer.

Her abilities aren’t superpowers, more tech that can do funky stuff, such as: create portals in shadows, manipulate and control shadows, create semisolid objects from shadows. How does this work? Uhhhhhh… y’know what? Ima leave that to the scientists, I’m sure they’ll come up with something! (Look, I’m a nerd, but I’m not that much of a nerd, okay?)

In terms of personality, she tries to be cool and effortless, but is way to invested in literally everything to achieve that. She’s really intelligent, and generally believes everyone deserves the best, but also will not give you any chances beyond second. She likes sunflowers and cheese and listens to really niche J-pop and does most of the grocery shopping for the team base, since she has the easiest line of transport to and from it (she doesn’t have to use a teleportation chamber like the rest of her team), and prefers to spend most of her time there anyways, because she has like, 4 younger siblings and they’re all equally annoying. Her pockets are filled with random tech and tools so she can always tinker on the go, and her little pouch on her hero outfit has similar stuff, plus a little snack bag for the team. She has a doesn’t get set off easily but she will blow tf up when angry, and years of repressed anger and eldest sibling syndrome makes her a little… intense. She channels all that rage into Mariokart, fighting villains, and teleporting to random abandoned buildings to break shit.

(Also Davi was named after one of my friends bc I thought their name sounded like an informational assistant (think J.A.R.V.I.S. and F.R.I.D.A.Y. from marvel, Aika from Prism (iykyk), S.H.E.L.L.D.O.N. from rottmnt, ect.)

What’s this? Another ref sheet for another superhero? Holy shit!! (I swear I have OCs who aren’t DnD characters/superheroes)

Anywaysss, this is River (AKA Gemini), they’re on Leila’s hero team, and they’re a very classic enby shapeshifter who’s still trying to figure out whether they need to buy stretchy fabric to make a costume out of, or if they can just shapeshift their own clothes (unclear). They’re dramatic and gender non comforting and they are annoyingly stubborn to the point where people wonder if it’s a joke.

They are into music and painting and will probably never leave the drama club, even once they graduate high school. They like to play tennis and will drop the most random pieces of personal lore into conversation and leave everybody wondering wth just happened. For example, they coached 5 year olds in gymnastics, despite having zero experience.

They can be kinda selfish at times, but they are ultimately well meaning, often acting as a therapist to their friends (before turning around and calling the person they’re consoling a bitch the next moment). They bully people to show affection, yap like all Hail Mary, and are incredibly emotionally intelligent, but truly, at their core, they are a dumbass.

They’re bad at cooking and all of their MESH subjects, they have a PHD in ADHD, and they refuse to take their meds because they think it’ll kill their sparkle (the exact words they used).

As of right now, their costume is literally what they had on under their clothes the day they became a superhero, and they’re comfy, too lazy to change it, and as such, it works for now (except in winter but uhhhh we’ll cross that bridge when we get to it). They have ≈0% fashion sense, despite the fact that they would look absolutely amazing if they just got styled correctly, and consciously chose to grow body hair, because they think it makes them look androgynous (and to their credit, it does).

In terms of labels, they identify the most with demiromantic/sexual, but gender is a bit more complicated for them. They feel as though two spirit describes them the best, but most people don’t know what that means, so they say non binary, which also doesn’t really feel right? They’re not genderfluid per se, but they do feel in a constant state of flux, although that flux is more of an every 2 seconds than every 2 days type thing, and they fluctuate more between abstract concepts linked to gender than actual labels. Perks of being a shapeshifter I guess?

As for powers, they were born a normal human in a rural town, but when they were around 10, they found a weird ominous pit in the woods where tech did not work, and they looked around the inside of the pit for a bit before finding a strange lockbox (like a metal money box, the kind you can buy for pretty cheap and that people use at art fairs to hold their float). Like any self respecting 10-year-old alone in the woods, they broke the lock and took a look inside, where they found a couple of pages of blah blah military shit and a funny green vial. They put the vial in their pocket and started making their way up the pit, before tripping and crushing the vial. Glass cut skin, green got in blood, boom! Shapeshifter. Epic origin story amirite guys?

She was originally made for a character design assignment in my animation class and I low-key hyperfixated on her so bad I came up with an entire line of superhero comics.. in my head..

She’s the final part of Leila’s team and unlike the rest of them, her powers come from an alien spider robot that attached itself to her wrist and killed her. She’s deaddd! It stored her soul inside itself and granted her a couple of things: 1) telepathy 2) superstrength 3) a magical girl transformation. Benefits of the job ig..

Over time she bonded with the robot (who she named Ross) and he defected from his original mission of getting him and the rest of his kind (the Dobutsubots) off world. Only she and the people in her telepathic link can hear Ross at any given time, but oh my gawddd Ross is a dirtbag he’s so rude to her at first, he just wants to go back to his planet and detach from this dumbass human.

Her powers are tied to how well she takes care of herself - when she’s well rested, eaten healthy and drunk enough water, she can use them without any strain, but the more she uses them the more drained she gets.

In terms of personality, she’s pretty monotone and it’s difficult to tell when she’s being sarcastic, which is.. often. She has a really big imagination but her willingness to talk about stuff she enjoys has kinda died down over the years, leading to her dissociating a lot, especially in class. It’s fine though Ross takes notes for her. She can’t multitask to save her life and is uncomfortable in most situations. She usually only hangs around with a couple of people and was super surprised when Sage and Leila approached her asking to join the team, because at that point the most eventful thing she has done is stop someone robbing a corner store, and she wasn’t even in her magical girl outfit then.

She’s kinda come to terms with her powers, and she knows from Ross that there are probably others out there like her that she should be on a team with, but she has a team, why would she go and join another? Fuck that, she doesn’t need more friends. (He exact thought process)

Awauughghd… so close to completing Leila’s team… art fight

This is Sage Fleischman, AKA Ate-Bit. They’re crazy smart and good at coding and hacking and basically any kind of tech… except the mechanical bits.. that’s Leila’s strong suit. They’re the top of their school, head cheerleader, and a student councillor, and are in a bajillion and one different clubs that they somehow still have time for despite the fact that THEY ARE LITERALLY A SUPERHERO. They were born with a mouth in their stomach and their parents basically called them a freak all their life and they decided to gain affection by working quadruply hard, and it worked, but it does mean that their parents love is entirely dependent on their grades, how much money they make and how “normal” they are. They have an older brother who sits around like a leech and somehow he’s still the golden child. Because of all the effort they put into life, they have all these otherwise useless skills like fencing, knot tying, and a bunch of other things, and they’re like the definition of Jack of all trades master of many.

They have dyslexia though, so their English grades aren’t quite as good as the others.. I’m talking 98.2% people, absolutely shameful. (/j I would KILL for a 98.2%. It also probably doesn’t help that they’re trying to learn German and Mandarin because their dad is German and their mum is Chinese and they wanna impress their parents, but yk.. ANYWAYS, they make a lotta money from freelance coding and paid hacking (specifically companies pay them to hack into their sites and tell them the flaws)

They met Leila on a tech forum where they were both trying to find a coder and hardware developer respectively, and it was geek buddies at first dm. Sage didn’t really have any close friends, just popular people in their circle, so Leila was their first real friend. Eventually, Sage’s parents decided that they were going to move back to Germany, and they took Sage with them. Sage told Leila this, and Leila asked if they wanted to meet up because she was sorta close-ish. It took a lot of pestering of the parents from both ends but eventually the two met up in Amsterdam and they stayed there for about a week before there was a robbery at a museum they were visiting. The two jumped into action, with Sage trying to scare the robbers off (not knowing anything about being even slightly heroic), and Leila, having built the hardware for her shadow bracelets and attempted multiple heroic deeds, started teleporting and fighting. At the end of the battle the two confronted each other, but eventually decided to become heroes and start a team. Sage started working doubly hard to earn enough money to buy a base for them, and eventually they found River and Amaya after seeing news articles about them. After some light kidnapping, the team was formed.

Sage is super competitive and stubborn, and as stated a bajillion times, spends most of their time working their ass off for approval. They’re desperate for affection and attention and throw their whole heart into everything they do, whether it’s joining a scout group or chess club. This confidence and do-or-die attitude gives them a natural charisma and leader-y vibe that makes people flock to them like moths to a flame, making them very popular.

They don’t really have time for hobbies or figuring themself out, and as such they often feel like muddy water - unclear, and not that useful. This causes a lot of self doubt and anxiety, which they push back in order to focus on school, or work, or heroics, or literally anything else.

Please, please, please, please, please, please, please, please, please, please, please, please, please, please, please, please, please, please, please, please, please, please, please, please, please, please, please, please, please, please, please, please, please, please, please, please, please, please, pretty please let this be the Dark Force trilogy I’ve been waiting more than 25 years for.

I read Heir to the Empire when it first was published.  I was in middle school.  I adored Thrawn and thought he was such an interesting character.  Not even villain (see Outbound Flight, among others).  And Mara Jade.  Absolutely cannot forget about badass Mara Jade.
