also. if anyone is curious about my lotr writing, I did start a fanfic HERE on ao3 about a half-elf ranger oc. it was written at a time where I got slammed with depression so there’s only two chapters but they still hold up well enough that im proud to share it.

Canon according to The Silmarillion:  There are no ‘half-elves’ in the Tolkien-verse.  Most of the children born of human/elf relations ended up choosing between the immortality of elves or the fleeting lives of men.  Those who choose the human life still have extraordinarily long lifespans, but they are ultimately mortal.  This was the decree of Manwë, the chief of the Valar gods.

Elrond’s mother was the granddaughter of Beren and Lúthien and his father was the son of Idril (elf princess of Gondolin) and Tuor (son of Huor, a chieftain among men.)  So being descended from Beren and Tuor, he was given the right to choose to be elf or human, and we all know he chose to be counted among the elves.  However, his brother, Elros, chose to be human.  Elros went on to found Númenor and became the first king of the Dúnedain, making him an ancestor of Aragorn.

This also means Isildur is a descendant of Elros.  Given that perspective, Elrond’s judgment of men based on Isildur’s weakness against the One Ring makes sense.  Elros lived for five hundred years and died a human.  It was because of him the Númenorians existed, and they were meant to be the wisest and strongest of men, and they still became corrupt and weak over the centuries.  So in Elrond’s mind:  My brother chose to be mortal and died for this.

Adventurecore Discord Server

Come and join The Wilderness discord server! We’re a moderately sized server based around the various wandering ~cores (all of them, not just adventurecore)

Members are Adventurers, admins are Rangers (the rangers run this blog!)

There are several woodland themed colours to choose from

A challenge is posted each week based around adventurecore. These are designed to be achievable by everyone, regardless of location or personal ability.

We have a server wide collaborative Spotify playlist!!

There are multiple channels all based around the adventure theme, including the adventurers table (for sharing tips), places to share art, writing and photography, and a voice channel called Campfire (we even have people on watch!)

There are several bots, all named Aragorn’s many different nicknames xD

This includes a music bot ofc, and there’s a music channel (The Bard)

There’s also a haiku bot which we all adore

Everyone is super friendly!!!

Ppl from related cores such as rangercore, nomadcore, wandercore, vagabondcore, campcore, ppl who just like hiking, or ppl that have read LotR and want to live the Aragorn lifestyle are absolutely welcome as well!!! Again, it isn’t just adventurecore!!!!
