OCtober Day 1: Journey
Makayla Robins had never been one for travelling far away. She’d grown to begrudgingly become used to it, however, when she still did bounty hunting work. After she gave up bounty hunting, she tended to stay in her home of New Port City, usually taking small jobs as a guard for cargo ships docked in the city, or merchants carrying expensive goods.
But some things she just couldn’t say no to. Like a pay check, a very good one sourced directly from the royal family.
She’d received a letter from the crown princess, Princess Nova, detailing how she had heard of Makayla’s accomplishments both as a bodyguard and a bounty hunter (however, her former occupation would be a future talking point, the princess also noted, and Makayla could feel herself tense as she read the words). She was looking for formidable fighters and academics to accompany her on a journey across the kingdom to stop a great evil, and Makayla had been just the type of person she was looking for. Strong, multi-skilled, a fierce loyalty to those who hired her… there wasn’t anyone more perfect for the job.
Also disclosed was a proposed paycheck (the total being just a bit more than what Makayla usually made in an entire year) and a promise to forgive all of Makayla’s crimes if she agreed.
Makayla Robins may not have been one for travelling, but who was she to deny an offer as excellent as that?
