#the passion! #the emotion!! #we became our FA-AN-TA-SYYYYYYYYY #just #gosh #*swoons a lot* #still I feel like Pearl's and Garnet's parts didn't summarize their journeys as well as Steven's and Amethyst's #like Steven's solo bit tells pretty much his whole story #trying to live up to Rose's legacy; answering for all the shit she did wrong; figuring out himself as an individual #Amethyst's was simple but still made it clear how she got to a point of belonging where she is now #but I felt like Pearl's ended when Rose died #which was BEFORE most of her character development took place! #''I never left her side'' #but there's no mention of the part when she DID #and Garnet's verse only goes into the VERY beginning of her story #I feel like we've missed out on a lot of how Garnet got from then to now #like we hardly know anything about how she was during the war #and now that I think about it this song is really just a setup for all of them to get reset by Spinel #it's just introducing all of their beginning points so that we recognize them when they get back there #it's less about the journey and more about ''it's not like that anymore'' #so Spinel can show up and be like ''isn't it though?'' #huh.
