if gojo had said it. if gojo had stood there after riko, after the star plasma vessel, after realizing the system is rotten and gone “fuck saving non-sorcerers” you think they would’ve put HIM on death row???? be serious.

they executed geto because they could. because he was a prodigy, not a pillar. because he broke and there was no cosmic backlash waiting for them. but gojo??? GOJO??? gojo is the balance of the entire era. you don’t sentence the six eyes to death, you rewrite the constitution and call it NECESSARY. you’d get emergency meetings and moral outrage and then some higher up clearing his throat like “perhaps the heir of the gojo clan sees further than we do…” or some shit like that

and that’s what makes 236 so cruel. when haibara says gojo was “just in the game for a kick” it’s almost defensive. because if geto really believed in saving sorcerers, if he really carried that grief and twisted it into a mission, then what does that make gojo??? the one who stayed??? the one who upheld the same machine that crushed him???

satosugu is this. unbearable imbalance. geto cared so much he self-destructed. gojo was so powerful the world would’ve adjusted to whatever he chose. if they switched places, geto would still try to justify it. gojo would just exist and reality would bend around him. only one of them was allowed to fall. and it was never going to be gojo.
