The Empty Black: Prologue
NOTE: Just a random story I have pieced together. I hope I can use it as an idea for my video game design stuff.
Every story you've probably heard begins something like "once upon a time" or "long ago, in a distant land" or something to that extent. Well, this story...it's kind of hard to say when it begins exactly, because where I'm standing now is in some other dimension. I have no idea what time it is over on Earth, the human realm. Oh, right, I am from Earth myself. Confused? Well, I do remember the date I left Earth behind through that one life-changing incident.
It was about December 21, 2012. It was a very disasterous day, even though mankind was well informed about what kind of terror that day would bring. How did I survive, you might ask?
Before I carry on, there is something you must know. This dimension only has one planet named Eridus, and it is about the size of Venus; no moon, and no stars. The whole place is alluded by darkness, except for the lights that are powered up here on this planet. It almost seems as if there is something else out there, but the technology here prevents us from initiating space travel (or whatever they'd deem it as). The great Emperor of the planet calls it the Empty Black, since there seems to be no sign of anything out there. This is not the main focus of this planet, however.
Eridus is far more dangerous than Earth ever was, for the economy depends on violence and blood, blood being the main energy source for our devices. Sounds a little more tasking than electricity and water on Earth, don't it? Here, many species of creatures with unique shapes, figures, customs, and characteristics, fight for a living. Even the ones who you know as announcers and referees eventually have to fight. And these are not playful fights, no. These are battles to the grave, only one warrior walks away, while the other gets used for our bloodbanks.
The ironic part of this is that the population is just as huge as a place like Canada. We hardly ever experience a decrease in our population, thanks to these machines that asexually reproduce new life forms. It's interesting how different genes are created by this technology, but you will learn more about it later.
I'd rather not ruin too much of my story starting of, but just keep these basic ideas in mind, and remember: War is the answer to everything on Eridus. Even though I don't exactly remember days on Earth besides the date I left it, let us venture back before that dreaded day of December 21st, 2012.
