DeForest Kelley, Wanted Dead or Alive, “The Empty Cell” (1959)
This was hard to gif bc the version I found goes into extreme closeup every ~2 sec. Copyright stuff? Anyway, the gist is De’s character pretends to be a sheriff and then a weaselly banker. Turns out he’s really a weaselly outlaw who then gets his butt kicked by Josh (McQueen) after the latter realizes his glasses are fake (it’s not nice to punch nearsighted people, apparently, but skinny guys with 20/20 vision are a-ok).
Now, I’ve said this before, but WDoA was the show where McQueen blew De off as a potential bad guy, so De immediately turned on the guy next to him and apparently scared the shit out of both him and McQueen. He ended up starring on 2 episodes, this and another as a corrupt sheriff. Neither is a very scary character, though, so I’m not sure why McQueen needed him to flip out. It’s a fun story, though. :)
