The Ericksons w/ BBGUN
The Ericksons w/ BBGUN
The Cedar Cultural Center Friday, 10/3/2014 I’ve known The Ericksons’ music for years now, and I love their older folksy sound, but I’m delighted about the new direction of their latest album Bring Me Home. They’ve traded a guitar for a synthesizer and picked up the tempo with a drum pad, all the while their songwriting and characteristic voices have stayed true to their roots. My favorite songs…

Sisters Bethany Valentini and Jenny Kapernick are back as the Ericksons for their newest effort, Bring Me Home. The folk-pop-turned-electro-pop duo enlisted the help of Beau Sorenson (Death Cab for Cutie, Bob Mould) and co-producer/musician Sean Carey (S.Carey, Bon Iver); and musicians Ben Lester (S.Carey, Field Report), Shane Leonard (Field Report), and Michael Lewis (Bon Iver, Alpha Consumer). The single “My Love” conveys strong feelings of emotional endurance and compassion: beautiful harmonies float above lush instrumentation. Hear the Ericksons’ recent session in the Current studios.

The Aster Cafe
Saturday 5/3/2013
Last night had me falling in love with The Ericksons all over again. Even with their stripped down set, the duo was able to completely fill the small room at the Aster with music and warmth. This was the most relaxed I’ve seen them and their music benefitted from that. The two new tunes they played were very different from what fans are used: they used a pre recorded drum track and a synthesizer instead of guitars. The new instrumentation created a new feel but Bethany and Jenny’s voices reaffirmed that it was definitely still The Ericksons. Make sure to check them out live sometime, they’ll be at the Live Letters Loft’s Anniversary party next Thursday!
