It's the pronunciation.

Adam named Vaggie after vagina and there's a certain way you pronounce it that's different to how Vaggie pronounces it. She made it her own by saying it a different way, but if you go back and watch "Welcome to Heaven," I'm pretty sure Adam says it the way its typically pronounced.

(Also let's talk about the fact that Adam names the Exorcists. I think someone pointed out that "Lute" is most likely short for Lieutenant. He named Vaggie after vagina. It makes me wonder what other names he's given the Exorcists. LOL following his line of thinking, I made an off-hand mention of an Exorcists named "Lacy" in Deepest Desires, inspired by "lace" as lingerie typically has a lot of lace).

(But following the reveal that Adam names his Exoricsts, it's given me so many ideas of what the Exorcists actually are. I don't think they're Winners, because Sera is so protective of her human souls, that I doubt she'd let any of them go down to Hell for any reason. So my theory is that they were literally created to be Exorcists, but they're inspired by Winners, thus why Vaggie is Latina and knows Spanish. Unless Spanish was just something she learned in her downtime, when they're waiting until the next Extermination to roll around.

WHICH also leads me to wonder what the fuck they do until the Exterminations come back around. Like are the training the whole time? Are they allowed to roam free (I doubt it because Sera was so adamant about no one knowing about the Exterminations, allowing Exorcists to just walk about willy nilly sounds like a bad idea--Lute being the exception). Are they just sequestered somewhere to the side? Do they guard the gates of Heaven, just out of sight of other Angels and Winners?)

SO MANY THOUGHTS.

Underground, overground, wombling free. The Wombles of the Feral World Banish are we!

I have been super unmotivated to paint lately, but felt that I should at least post something. So to try to get myself motivated to paint... well, anything, I thought I'd share some of the minis I've painted before, starting with these saucy little minxes here! Coincidentally they're also the oldest miniatures in any of my 40k armies: a tactical squad made of Rogue Trader era Space Marines. Most of these are from the RTB01 plastic Space Marine box, but there are a few metal ones in there as well, such as Brother Gorshin with a needlegun, Brother Milton (behind Gorshin) and one guy from the 1990's Space Marine range, when the Mk VII style armour started becoming more standardized. I didn't have the right arms for him, so he has a pair of Horus Heresy arms with (not actually) matching shoulderpads. And they've been made for 2nd edition, and painted as Exorcists.

In the vast history of the Imperium, which spans across the galaxy, it is inevitable that information is lost. Sometimes by accident, other times on purpose. And the foundings and information about certain Astartes chapters is one such thing. Some chapters are lost to time due to inaccurate or incomplete record keeping, others purposefully obfuscate information about themselves, and sometimes the Inquisition purges any information about a chapter they deem heretical, or dubious. In a way, this is the case of the Exorcists.

Some time between the late 35th millenium and early 36th millenium, a founding of Space Marines was enacted, the 13th founding, known today as "The Dark Founding". Appending names to foundings is not uncommon, as was the case with the 21st "Cursed Founding" and the 23rd "Sentinel Founding". But the Dark Founding is curious for one specific reason: next to nothing is known about which chapters were founded, and those that are known, little information about these chapters is publically available. Three chapters are credited to this founding, though one is only speculated, and information pertaining to their parent chapter is strictly hidden. These three chapters are the Crimson Sabers, the truth of their founding being unconfirmed, and all information classified after their betrayal of the Imperium, and becoming the Chaos warband The Crimson Slaughter; The Death Spectres, officially of unknown lineage, though heavily rumoured to be Raven Guard successors; and today's topic, the Exorcists.

Based on the Feral World Banish, the Exorcists were born of the Imperial Fists gene stock, though it is suspected the geneseed has been tampered with by Mechanicus genetors in the creation, due to the Exorcists displaying none of the mutations of their parent chapter. The Exorcists' gene-lineage is also a secret to most everyone in the wider Imperium, including the Exorcists themselves, only learning their heritage upon induction into the 1st company. However, this is not the only secret the chapter holds.

Soon after their creation, the Exorcists took part in a battle on the world of Totem IV, where a Daemon incursion was occuring. The Exorcists, lead by their chapter master Enoch Trismegistus, proved expert Daemonhunters, and they proved extremely resillient to the corrupting effects of the Warp. Eventually the lord of the Daemonic forces, the Lord of Change Keriath the Shrouded, frustrated by the power displayed by the Exorcists, used it's might to possess Chapter Master Trismegistus. This sewed chaos amidst the ranks of the Exorcists, but Trismegistus refused to let Keriath take control. He was able to communicate his plan to Chief Librarian Goetos, and together, the two Exorcists were able to banish the Greater Daemon from Trismegistus' body. The campaign on Totem IV was eventually declared an Imperial victory. The incident, however, was not buried well enough by the marines, and came to the attention of a sect of the Inquisition known as the Plutonians. This radical sect believed that controlled Daemonic possession would be able to unlock the true power of humanity, and upon hearing of Trismegistus' case, they became intreagued. The Plutonians brought Trismegistus in for tests of purity, and upon finding Trismegistus completely clean of Chaos corruption, they proposed their beliefs on Trismegistus. The Chapter Master, knowing the power the creatures of the Warp possessed, flat out refused, but proposed something else: the marines of his Chapter were to undergo limited Daemonic possession, and if they were able to banish the Daemon within a certain timeframe, they would be allowed to fully join the ranks of the Exorcists. This was accepted by the Plutonians, and the Exorcists, as they are today, were born.

Due to the hazardous nature of the initiation rites of the Exorcists, the chapter is formed of 12 companies, with the 10th, 11th and 12th companies being reserved for Scouts. This leaves the chapter often over strength, but this is seen as acceptible, as the purpose is merely to have enough recruits that survive the final trial. Before the implantation of the Black Carapace, a second layer of skin that directly interfaces with the Astartes Power Armour, the initiate undergoes Daemonic Possession therapy, there the aspirant is allowed to be possessed by a Daemon under the watchful eye of a Librarian, and specialized Chapter serfs. If the marine is able to banish the Daemon with their own will alone before the tolling of twelve sacred bells, they are inducted into the ranks of the chapter. If they fail, or go mad as a result of the experience, they are taken to a secret location known as the Purgatomb, and are named Broken One, bound in sanctified shackles, and used as a living prison for Daemons, to be used later in further instances of Daemonic Possession Therapy. The experience of being possessed, and banishing the Daemon from their body often leaves the battle brothers with broken or incomplete souls, leading to the marines being unable to feel emotions. There are exceptions, such as many feeling pride if they were possessed by Slaanesh daemons, and others feeling rage if they were possessed by Khorne daemons, but all in all, one of the feelings most commonly attributed to the Exorcists is a hollow emptyness.

...I do still have some older minis. Maybe I should talk about the real world history of 40k a bit next time.

@beef-brisket Ok, I know I’ve had a lot of ideas based on epic and Ancient Greece lately…..and here’s another one.

Imagine that when Adam comes back as a sinner he has magic so powerful he can transform people into animals.

Specifically pigs.

That’s right I made like Circe, not the original one she sucks, but like Epics version where she does what she can to ensure the nymphs safety.

I imagine that the nymphs in this scenario would definitely be the exorcists fallen in battle.

I like to imagine that he tricks male sinners into entering his home under the guise of a woman. It certainly wouldn’t be that hard to pretend.

The man is curvier than Marilyn Monroe

I also really want him to say,

Adam: Don’t worry I’ve got you, don’t worry Addy’s got you.

I think it would be amazing if Valentino would ended up being one of his victims. If anyone were truly a pig on that show it’s him.
