I think I have finally fully understood why the end of The 100 is absolutely unsatisfying.

Throughout the first six seasons we had the embodiment of what Karl von Clausewitz called in his book Vom Kriege the "rise to extremes". In the context of a war, if one side uses violence, the other side does the same, in an escalation of violence that can be infinite. Throughout season 2, against Mount Weather (and in that final scene between Clarke and Cage!!), in season 3, and also in season 4 with the Conclave, we have seen the results of this mimicry that leads us to our downfall. Season 5 is undoubtedly the most perfect completion. Season 6 also tackled the question, but from an individual point of view, also posing the question of immortality.

And the seventh season seemed to herald a break in this pattern (which was also to correspond to Monty and Harper's motto "doing better"). Around Bill Cadogan, people were trying to break the vicious circle of violence. They were trying to break the circle of violence by removing attachment and love from them. By losing who they were. And also by preparing for... war.

So what did we logically expect? That what was left of the delinquents would be able to break the pattern, but using love instead. The historian and anthropologist René Girard, in Achever Clausewitz , tries to show that in this inevitable escalation of violence, it is the Christic way, that of sacrifice, that can show the way to redemption: "the Apocalypse does not announce the end of the world; it is the foundation of hope".

So yes, the end had to be logical: it was through their sacrifice, through their altruism, that the delinquents (and above all Bellamy and Clarke) could save humanity.

But JR decided to let his two main characters in the abyss of violence, unrelated to what Clarke had said in the previous season ( “We can let the bad things that happened to us define who we are. Or we can define who we are.“) By breaking this logic, JR totally disavowed the message he had been patiently putting in place for 7 years. By providing another answer (and what answer ??), he departed from a philosophical path that made sense to everyone.

This is, without a doubt, where one of his biggest mistakes lies.

The Looming Shadow Of Detective Cygnus

...was me. I was looming over her, intimidating her with riddles and such only to turn it around and giver her a birthday gift I had planned on mailing anyway. The "something" that was coming towards her that contained three parts: Tim Drake, SCP, and Hug...

It was a gift from a friend :)

The Final Message

(a short story about the end of something that never quite finished)

He hadn’t heard from her in months. Not since the argument that left too many truths unspoken and too many lies untouched.

It came on a Tuesday—an alert on his phone: "Hope you're doing okay. Just wanted to say thanks... for everything. Take care."

That was it. No anger. No apology. No “I miss you.” No “Goodbye.”

He stared at the screen, thumbs hovering, brain churning through a thousand possible replies. But what could he say now? That he still thought of her when he heard their favorite song? That her toothbrush was still in his drawer? That he'd rehearsed his apology more times than he could count?

Instead, he turned off the phone.

The message wasn’t closure. It was a door quietly shutting behind her. No slam. Just a soft click that would echo for the rest of his life.

Just realized,

So I just realized what yesterday was. It was the year mark since you. Since I boxed up your stuff. Infuriated and done. It was the last time you made me feel like I didn't matter. But yesterday came and I completely forgot. I had plans with another man and enjoyed myself. I felt beautiful, craved, cared for, and appreciated. So thanks for showing me I can lose everything, be a mess, start new, and come out stronger. I have insecurities and trust issues now, but I also have confidence and am happy with the steps forward that I am taking. So I just realized....I'm done.
