long rant bc I’m overreacting

Ok so I saw a YouTube comment and it made me start thinking

The comment was along the lines of Velvette telling Valentino that he doesn’t need Vox and she can be a better friend.

But here’s the thing. It was never a competition.

The most soul destroying part of the Vees’ backstory was not that there was a competition of who was the better friend. Because Velvette does care about both Valentino and Vox. This is literally proven in the song When I Think About The Future.

Because yes, Velvette is (rightfully) pissed at Vox for how he’s treating them. But she still does care, as proven by the line “and maybe then he’ll chill again and realize who he missed” bc that is not just in reference to Vox missing Valentino. That is in reference to Vox missing Valentino AND Velvette.

The most soul crushing part of the Vees’ relationship is that there is a duo in the trio with Velvette and Valentino. But that is soul destroying because of the fact that the duo never wanted to be a duo, but were forced into it by the third member of the trio not really wanting to be part of it. (Again, proven by another lyric, “No more playin' house, once they're devout, I won't need a squad”)

Vox does not want to be a part of a trio. But Velvette and Valentino still want him to be part of the trio. That is what is soul crushing about it.

I think it says something when your biological parents suck as people so much that you go get not one, not two, but three internet parents (one unofficial, two official) and even though none of them know your real name, you’re still pretty sure they still love you more than the people who gave you that name
