The Runaway: The Awakened Monarch of Old

(So sorry for not writing for a few weeks, i was on a cruise trip for seven days and had enough time to cook up a new little part. Now i understand Milk Choco not going for Divine Goddess first might’ve not made sense but, i’m not changing it because fuck it we ball and we die like men)

To @cuppajj , i’d like to formerly apologize for not posting in ages LMA-

It was quiet and awkward. 

The two just stared at each other, with both confused and annoyed expressions. 

“White Cocoa…” Milk Choco almost stared off in awe. She doesn’t remember the last time she’d seen the other…In the dough, let alone..

She bowed a bit, being stopped by the silence being broken by the old monarch.

‘There’s no need for that formality, My dear..I’ve never been woken up so early in the season…What is the matter?’

The other, a woman with chocolate dough and pearl white moonlight hair, stared, stretching, groaning after seemingly cracking her back.

“Madame…There is not much time…Do you know what has happened to your son…? He’s…he’s changed for the worse..him and his friends are out for blood and are seeking to own all of Earthbread, The Holy Saint…The Dragon Mother…Midnight Lily…The Goddess of Greed…—“

The other would listen while stepping out of her resting place. 

‘You say my son has gone rogue..along with his friends? That’s..’ She’d linger…her face drained of its color. How…how could this be…? He swore to protect everyone…To be the best king that would ever rule these lands for centuries to come..promised to handle the soul jam well…Had he gone back on his words?

‘I see…Then this is why i have been summoned?’

“…We need you and your friends help to take them down and restore them all to their formal glory…return them to normal..But i’m afraid that it’s not possible….”

‘The idea  of killing our own children…I…I never thought that it would come to this. Very well, let us go. Every minute is valuable, if what you say is true.’ 

Both women get to the small temple after white cocoa would adjust her dress and sword, holding the glimmering souljam of resolution. They could hear the faint stomping of thick boots, coming from the guards. Someone must have taken note of the walls tampering, and was on the hunt for whoever was responsible. 

White Cocoa inched out first, quickly covering Milk Choco, attempting to conceal her. Both managed to escape the same way they came. 

They reached the snow and ran as fast as their feet would take them. White Cocoa looked back to yelling, seeing the shadows of guards leaving the gate to come after them, even the worn king of old sovereignty. 

He only stared…with seemingly dead and dull eyes, Eyes that had once looked up to her, full of adventure and courage. Then he disappeared below the walls railing, and she caught up with Milk Choco where she and crunchy were before. He managed to reach his wolves, having been pampering them and having them scout while the two were gone.

[…Milk Choco…I heard the guards. D you make it out okay? And..Madam…It is an honor to meet you.] He’d stop pampering one of the smaller wolves of the pack, slowly standing. 

“With a few scratches and possibly a torn shoulder or calf, I’m in perfect health.” She stretched her arm a bit, sucking her teeth. 

‘My son may have eyes on us now, and no need for the flattery, Crunchy Chip Cookie. Let us get going, before we get ambushed, I need to know all the details about what exactly is happening.’ She’d look back, pulling her cape closer in an attempt to conceal herself. 

[Of course my lady, however…] He’d trail off, almost being hesitant.

‘What is it?’

[…Im not sure..I’m just thinking..about the king.]

‘I’m…I’m just as shocked and mortified as you are…as the phrase goes..’

‘A loss of words, I felt the color drain from my face…’

[I see…Let us get going, as you suggested…I would rather not be here when the tundra becomes a hunting ground, where we are the prey or target.]

‘Very well, this way. I know a concealed shortcut we can use.’

The three traveled through some underbrush, disappearing into the winter winds. 

When they left, A group appeared where they stood, quiet. It was what seemed to be a couple of Cacao’s men, and standing in-front of them all, was a taller man, seemingly older than the rest, a pointy headpiece and shoulder pads to match, a cape dragging along the ground, just barely touching it. 

He huffed, sighing while quietly staring out into the distance. 

{Mother…I shall return you to your resting place. I simply…cannot allow you to be around.}

you’re a super ancient, 100,000s of years old probably up until this point. you’re a guardian! taya good for you.

now you’re white cocoa in this case among the rest like cranberry, burnt parm, vanilla bean and wildflower, who now have to take down their own children, just like what they did with the beasts ages ago, sealing them up the first time.

I've been following you for years and I have to tell you that my mother was one of the OG Trekkies. She watched from the beginning, wrote for zines, went to every local convention. She had a huge Trek collection, and she had every one of your books; copy of Spock's World literally fell apart, she loved it so much. She never got the chance to thank you for that, so I wanted to tell you, on behalf of a huge fan—thank you for your work. <3

My fellow fans in the Old Guard are always on my mind. If anything taught me the value of hanging onto what you love, regardless of how often people tell you that you can't possibly make a difference... they did. :)
