So, let’s see if I understand. Pelayo has been serving as governor for 5 years now. But they keep saying he was only sworn in a few months ago. Probably four, at best. They also mention Fina left a few months ago. And Begoña’s pregnancy doesn’t even show. I. SIMPLY. CAN’T.

Let’s recap this impeccable logic. Fina left 5 years ago. Which means she never worked at the factory and never had a relationship with Marta. Now it makes sense why Marta isn’t looking for her 🤣🤣🤣🤣

I’m, of course, just amusing myself.

On a more serious note, the park stroll functions like a controlled experiment. The photographer lingering in the background—like the ghost of a memory, inching ever closer to materializing—while Marta appears comfortable, hands buried in her pockets, offering zero physical contact. The conversation remains almost professional. Marta is emotionally detached but not tense; she’s at ease, but not giving. She keeps herself separate, which in itself is revealing.

What stands out most to me is the phrasing: “I don’t know if I can protect the person I have by my side.” Not “the person I’m with,” not “the person I want,” and certainly not “the person I love.” “The person I have by my side” suggests proximity without ownership, presence without emotional commitment.

That said, it absolutely cracks me up that Marta—who is notably physically affectionate with the people she truly loves and cares about—keeps her hands in her coat pockets at all times, while MEHdame is constantly seeking contact. Pretty telling.

And yes, despite appreciating these small details, I continue to feel this entire storyline undermines Marta’s entire trajectory and narrative, stripping her of much of her credibility. She had the potential to be one of the greats, and it's a shame to see it go to waste.

P.S. With anyone but Fina, the Guard is Civil. They are only on their guard when it comes to Fina herself. Cloe, Pelayo, and Darío may frolic freely in public, but the moment it involves Fina, all hell breaks loose. SDL and its selectively enforced history.

Before we get into today's episode later in the day, I want to make something clear: I absolutely want to be wrong about this. In fact, I have never wanted to be wrong more than I do right now. And if so? I will happily and ecstatically admit I was wrong.

That said, if we are going to watch Rome burn—like @midniteowlet likes to say—and Marta is going to bite into that croissant, even though she is my favorite character, I genuinely hope she chokes on it.🤭
