Thinking about it a bit, I think part of what appeals to me about the God-Machine is it's emphasis on physicality. Most of the time AI talk glosses over or ignores the physicality of these systems, treating them like an immaterial presence whereas the God-Machine puts its own materiality front and center- you simply can't talk about it without talking physical infrastructure and logistics. It's something that's ignored too much, I think.

SHODAN goes on a rampage in the bar, converting patrons into SHODAN-knows-what using her suborned Infrastructure.  Unbeknownst to her, the bar is Concealment Infrastructure for the Logistical Infrastructure contained within the barkeep being used to analyze the modifications SHODAN is making.  The Process take no notice, being cosmic subroutines and infrastructure.

Just think of all the problems there are with compatibility between infrastructure components, especially when they’re updated with new tech.  Now imagine how hard the God-Machine has it, and all the legacy bullshit doubtless built in.  Have a cool new soul-grinder?  Sorry, that shit’s not compatible with the 6.870002 Concealment lnfrastructure OS build, and let’s not even get into the power adapters.
