An Evening with Lubaina Himid

In celebration of Black History Month Lubaina will talk about her life as an artist and curator with a focus on her work Swallow hard: the Lancaster Dinner Service (2007), her response to Lancaster’s involvement in the slave trade and the legacy that has left in the city.

Professor Alan Rice Co-Director Institute for Black Atlantic Research (IBAR), University of Central Lancashire will also lead a Q&A with Lubaina.

Tickets £8.00/ £5.00 concessions (including GCA members) from the bar at the Greyson.

Busy day today putting up exhibition at a wonderful pub and community space in Lancaster called The Gregson.

Its a shared exhibition with my sister Esther, i have put up a series of paintings along side some of my embroidered portraits. 

Esther's work is comprised of space themed illustrations and drawings of delightful fairies, a must see! www.ewoketty.deviantart.com After having spent a couple of hours putting work up we treated ourselves to some yummy vegan mexican burgers, and a soya cappuccino, can happily say what a happy accident it was stumbling upon the fact that The Gregson caters so well for veggies and vegans, another reason to go visit!

Audition Week

This coming week is out big audition week were we will be casting for Young Playwrights Showcase and Queertet 2014.

To put just how big this is into perspective, we will be casting seven plays with 22 roles, there are six different directors, one producer, one artistic director, two stage managers and more than 50 actors auditioning over three days in two venues. But hopefully by this time next…

The directors are all in place and the casting has now closed for Grin Young Playwrights Showcase.

The talent, as we have almost come to expect, has been amazing and we have finally got it down to the final 26 people who we will audition on 8th April 2014.
