“A formal invitation for you, madam.” Sterling said, handing her a small cardstock invitation almost as soon as he walked through the door of where she had been working. Well, as soon as he had been allowed entry where she was working. Security was naturally tight and he honestly loved that. Meant she was safe. 

The space and turtles decorated invitation was to their baby shower on the 23rd of October.

“Brompto--” But Sterling stopped himself and smiled a bit more softly. “Hazel.” He corrected. “I was wondering if I could get you to cater an event for me in about 4 weeks. Is that too short notice?”

“Romanoff, may I have a word with you a moment?” He was sure Nat had noticed something off lately with him. Sure, she was busy with Germaine for the vast majority of the time but she was nothing if she wasn’t brilliant, observant, and persistently curious. “Are you available October 23rd?”

Things had been awkward between them. Especially since she had come to his apartment and had that panic attack. She shouldn’t have been ashamed of it. He had them at work from time to time. Publicly. Horribly. Then again, they embarrassed him too. Perhaps they weren’t as different as they thought they were. 

“Sorry I had to drag you out of the farm house you’ve been staying in but I wanted to give you this in person and Rebecca wasn’t up for doing it herself.” Sterling sat down across from her in the little cafe with the beverage she had ordered and a baby shower invitation. It depicted little turtles with astronaut helmets floating around in space and it was set for October 23rd.

“Hey, Uncle to be. While you’re laying there being useless read this. Don’t be late and for the love of arrows, no matter how funny you think it will be, do not bring a goddamn pizza.” Sterling tossed the cardstock invitation at the archer while he lounged on his office couch sipping his coffee. “I want people to survive this baby shower.”

“I hope you don’t have plans for October 23rd.” Sterling said, handing Mason the baby shower invitation on top of a stack of files. “I didn’t think Rebecca would be up for something like that but apparently she promised her mother. Eva is invited, of course.”

“Ari? Do you have a moment? I have something to give you. Don’t worry, it’s not more work.” Sterling grinned as he hovered at her office door, waiting for permission to enter and start the conversation.
