Nightmare
Stupid, stupid. What was that boy doing in the middle of the road that night? Only an idiot. It had been some weeks now following Tony’s accident. Michelle couldn’t even bring herself to see Tony in hospital. So many ‘what if’s’ still ran through her mind; what if she had picked up from him sooner, instead of putting him off like she always had done when Tony tried to win her back with his attempts. Maybe things would be different, maybe he would be with her.
Jolting up from a deep sleep, the brunette was hunched over. Her green eyes were fixated upon the watch that rested along her wrist that read 8 o’clock. She ran her fingertips along it, brushing lightly against the silver. The digits still envisioned in her mind, even as she closed her eyes shut. The slightest ticking of the mechanical wrist watch could be heard in ears, even when it wasn’t hugging her wrist. That was the same time, right down to the hour--and minute, was when Michelle last had heard Tony’s voice.
Michelle had been keeping in contact, getting information from Athea, Tony’s mother. She tells Michelle that Effy had been suffering from night terrors since the accident, and following her call, Michelle meets up with the youngest Stonem in the very same park, on the bench the two had sat in just before everything had changed.
"So, did you want to talk now, Effy?"
