It's extremely funny that it took the cancelation and revival of the show for doctor who to answer why everyone in time and space speaks British English, but it's doubly funny that this was directly addressed when Sarah Jane asked how he could understand the Italians in the masque of mandragora and the doctor said "don't worry about it" and then never answered it
