Acid King - "The Midway" From the album The Early Years (October 9, 2006)
Last song scrobbled from iTunes at Last.fm
File under: Stoner Rock
The classic amusement parks, carnivals, and state fairs tend vaguely to convey menace, chaos, and the outré. There are whirling machines that defy gravity, odd human creatures who defy nature, and any number of attractions that defy everything we think we know. A properly functioning midway therefore instills in its patrons a mild, barely perceptible undercurrent of dread. Consequently, to enter with trepidation into the big tent (or nervously take a seat in the coaster car) is to understand—if only by instinct—that terror is at the root of every thrill.

After the tidal pools, I went on an aircraft carrier that had been transformed into a museum of planes! And then… ah… home sweet home, sweet Denver airport… it was fun, but it’ll be nice to sleep in my own bed again!
